Let's Resolve This...Once And For All

Durham, NC -- I hadn't planned on writing about this again, but the Isaiah Washington-T.R. Knight story continues in the news. Last night on E Entertainment TV, the interview with Isaiah on this web site was the number one entertainment story on The Daily Ten. Meanwhile, I spoke to Isaiah Washington again yesterday. He corrected a misimpression in my original article by pointing me to T.R. Knight's interview on The Ellen Show last January.

After my interview with Washington last week, several people told me that there was no news in Washington's claim that T.R. Knight was not on the set when the F-word was used. They said that Knight had always acknowledged this fact, and had never claimed otherwise. I reported this information in the article.

But then I went back and watched the Ellen interview (see below), at Washington's suggestion. Knight clearly states or implies that Washington called him a "faggot" to his face. Knight tells Degeneres, "I'd never been called that [the F-word] to my face" until the Washington incident. When asked if he was there, Knight tells Degeneres in clear terms: "I was there." But that statement seems to contradict the arguments by Knight's own defenders. So who's telling the truth?

Knight tells Ellen: "I had my little back pack on. I was ready to go....He referred to me as a 'faggot.'..." When Ellen asks if Knight was "around the corner" and heard this, Knight avoids the question. Instead, he giggles and goes back to the F-word. "It's such an awesome word," he says. Then Knight goes back to answer Ellen's question by saying, "Everyone heard it." But hear he does not say that he heard it, even though he leaves that impression with the viewer.

Knight then tells Ellen that he was under no delusion that people didn't already know about his sexual orientation on the set, thus challenging the initial media reporting that Washington had "outed" Knight.

There's an easy way to settle this. Let's find out if T.R. was on the set or not when the incident happened. If he wasn't on the set at the time, then he's lying. If he was on the set, then Isaiah was lying.

But in the meantime, I find it disturbing that many observers, including those in the media, would immediately believe Knight instead of Washington. Until more facts come out, this is a "he said-he said" story. And this story has dragged on much too long.

Let's get to the bottom of this and find out if Knight was on the set when the incident took place. If he was on the set, then it seems he's right and Washington is wrong. If he wasn't on the set, then it seems Washington is right and Knight is wrong.

And I have to say this too. This story should never have been allowed to blow up like this. I blame ABC and the producers for this. The incident should have been resolved on the set last October and not allowed to linger for months. Instead of allowing various people to go out in the media and talk about it, the network and the producers should have discussed it with all the parties involved, found out the facts, and then decided what to do.

Now let's resolve this drama, once and for all, and move on with our lives.

At the risk of sounding like a bitch, ALL of ya'll need to move on. Let it go. This does not warrant all of this space. I'll say it AGAIN - actions have consequences, and his ass needs to deal with them. He'll think twice now before he speaks. Regardless of who was where when and who said what when and to whom, we all know what was said and that it was not called for in any context. He created a hostile work environment and was ultimately let go. It happens everyday. Tough. These folks are not thinking about us black homos, so we don't need to waste anymore time discussing, defending and analyzing this fool's actions. You can best believe no black heteros are gonna spend this much time talking about shit that pertains to us. Next.

Workplace hostile behavior are personnel issues that should remain confidential. This is beginning to sound like it was either a. an easy way to painting Washington as aNOTHER black homophobe, b. getting a black guy fired, and/or c. creating a shelter of victimhood by making this out to be about homophobia as Knight sought to come out anyway.

Ultimately TR is on the set NOW and Washington isn't. So, it appears that the resounding public opinion is that whether TR was on the set or not the confirmed truth is that Washington did use the word. Defender of the gays, open-minded supporter, etc... no one cares when you still had the gall to use the word. It's like the "I have lots of Black friends..." but you're caught saying the word "Nigger" in anger. Washington was wrong. He's paying for it and the rest is history.

BLUE, YOU AIN'T NEVER LIED!!!

KEITH, YOU NEED TO TELL ISAIAH TO MOVE THE F_CK ON AND YOU NEED TO STOP WRITING ABOUT THIS DEAD ASS SUBJECT!!!

IF ONE OF US LOST OUR JOB LIKE HE DID, NO ONE WOULD GIVE A DARN!!! I AM SICK OF ISAIAH ...STOP FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF MAN...MOVE ON. THE SHOW WASN'T ALL THAT ANYWAY...IT WAS JUST AN OK TV SERIES. COME ON!! GET ANOTHER ACTING GIG!!!

WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT OTHER THAN BOYCOTT THE SHOW!!

WHEN ARE PEOPLE GOING TO REALIZE THAT YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING TO PEOPLE WHEN IT DEALS WITH YOUR MAKING MONEY UNLESS YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES.

I AM ALSO SICK OF BLACK GAY PEOPLE CARRYING THEIR WHITE LOVERS, THEN ASKING TO BORROW MONEY...SOME BLACK GAYS NEED DEALS WITH THEIR COLOR ISSUES...I AM SEEING BLACKS GET TAKEN FINANCIALLY BY WHITES LIKE NINE THOUSAND...
WHITE GAYS DON'T REALLY GIVE A F_CK ABOUT ANYONE BUT THEMSELVES...I DID SEE THEM SAY ANYTHING WHEN IMUS MADE HIS OFFENSE REMARKS.

MidwestGuy[TypeKey Profile Page]

Of course the first poster to this thread suggests that we should spend time talking about other things. Yet, he/she is the first in line to express their opinion on a such an unimportant topic. Blue, maybe you should follow your own advice. Stop discussing and let it go.

Keith, before your other detractors begin, this does not negate the fact that he said it. As you have said, there is no excuse.

I appreciate the fact that you allowed Washington to have his say. If black gays want to shun him for attempting to make amends to our community then that's something we will have to deal with, not Isaiah. His problem will be finding work, not defending whether he's a homophobe. In the scheme of things, the latter does not matter.

If Beenie Man wants to have a sit down with you, then do it and tell us about it. It's all about growth and nothing in life should be so absolute. Growth allows you to move forward. Harboring resentment for those who you feel has wronged you makes you bitter. Not a good combo.

Blue

I'll say what the fuck I want, when I want, Midwest Guy.

Charles

Who cares?

Ronnie

ABC, in one great swoop got rid of the majority of its black character's, starting with that sham on season two of Desperate Housewives (The black men had to play sexy and dangerous, their interracial relationships, and then the crazy black woman; stereotype much). Harold Perrineau's character on LOST being an absent father and then killing the white woman and Spanish woman (Stereotype much). My man from OZ that played Adebisi was killed off of LOST. ABC has been killing off black characters since Family Matters, My Wife and Kids, and now this. I don't really care about Isaiah Washington because he just keeps opening his mouth. Now that they've thrown him off, he needs to say "Next" and move on. The gay white faction has done their work, and now their on to spotting the next celebrity usage of Faggot. How wierd is it that they don't attack Paris Hilton for using anti-gay slurs. Also, question why LOGO would cancel the show (Noah's Arc)that gave them attention.

eric daniels

Hey Paris Hilton got released from jail with many people cheering her on like she was Malcolm or Huey Newton. Washington learned an important lesson he violated the commandment of working in Hollywood "Thou shalt not slur white gays and jews". He has said his side of the story and now Knight is contradicting what IW said. The only people who truly knew what was said was on the set that day so gays, st8s, blacks and whites need to stop "Monday morning Quaterbacking". If IW was well - liked by the cast and prodcuers they would have his back and he would still be there. Move on brotha in a year nobody will care and you will be on another series keep talking and you'll end up like Micheal Jackson blackballed out of the entertainment buisness by those same people.

MidwestGuy[TypeKey Profile Page]

Don't get mad at me because you are the nutjob who logged onto a thread to discuss a subject that you feel we should not be disccussing in the first place.

Keep doing what you're doing Keith. You can not be everything to everyone. However, you can be something to someone. As long as Isaiah is willing to talk, then share your ear.

Solo

I 2 am amazed that this story has lasted so long, I mean I have heard of stories that grew leggs but this is unreal. I think part of the reason is that this story put a spotlight on the gulf that has always existed between black gays and their white counterparts. People like to think that being victims of bigotry themselves whites gays would be a little less prone to being bigoted themselves, this incident proves that assumption to be way off the mark.
I as a straight person have to commend Mr. Boykin's fair minded approach to this story. He could have just went off on a tirade on how all hetros are evil but instead he actually took a reasoned approach and judged Mr. Washington on the totality of his career. He didn't condem MR. Washington or just write him off written as just another garden variety bigot.
I am also puzzled by how such a thoughtful person like Mr. Boykin attracts such an extreme following. People like Blue who think 1 word constitutes a hostle work environment, sorry it does'nt

shanna

Keith,

Thank you so much for saying what I've been saying all along. This entire incident did not have to be handled like this. Basically, Isiah and TR should have been sat down and they should have discussed and resolved this when it happened. It never should have been allowed to become the media circus it became. And although Isiah was wrong at the GG's it was a statement borne of a need to defend himself because at that point only TR's story was being told.

Ostend Street

IW is starting to sound like John the Baptist crying in the wilderness. Please, let's move on. IW, if you feel you were wronged, get a lawyer, take it to court, have your day in court and settle the whole mess. Believe me, this isn't going to be settled on this website, but it sure has been interesting reading all the comments. "Lawd", what will I do when this over.

Eric Daniels

You are right about that Solo, what is going on is a public on the gulf between white gays and black gays and their attitudes on race itself which I think is barely scratching the surface. IW is a small subplot in this story, White Gays are more racist than your everyday garden variety redneck or Klansmen because they want to play the role of a perescuted minority when in many cases they have worse sterotypes of the st8 black community (aka Shirley Q. Liquor) and black gays. I give Grey's Anatomy another 2 years and it will fade away into t.v. history, like Solo Keith I give you and Jasymne credit for doing your job as journalists reporting the story and being open-minded. The naysayers who want the IW-T.R. Knight story to go away are afraid that the so- called rainbow's community's racist attitudes secrets may come out in the public sphere and and others will use it against them in public debate on issues pertaining to race and homosexuality.

J.Rosas

They talk about IW milking, it let him, and for all those TR Knight lovers, watch that pitiful show and his painful, very painful act of trying to be straight in his role, as I don't think for one moment that he has not been called that word. I would not call him it, since he isn't too pathetic to even have gay attached to him.have nothing positive to think about a 31 year old man who thinks he is in the closet, and then is crushed when he is outed, as if he really thinks anyone ever thought he was straight.

Any hoo, stand up job Keith, that's the one thing I admire most about you, you do what you feel is best, and that is great.

And, IW, they have tried to slander your name, made you beg, grovel and plead to keep that gig, and by all means, you need to clear it up. And, I would sue ABC, this should have been handled better by them, and without all the histrionics do TR and the cat fights that have ensued since then. Just one hot, pitiful mess, worse than baby mama drama on Maury.

cward[TypeKey Profile Page]

Now if IW thinks he is going to get his 2.7 million dollar job back now he can forget it.

It is a good thing that ABC did not "fire" him but instead opted to not "renew" his contract. Are any of his co-stars speaking out in support of either I.W. or T.R; nope.

ABC will not touch him with a 100 foot pole much like Star Jones they are done for now. You can not sue ABC because they did not violate anything.

WOW it is good to see that black gays are just as racists and close-minded as white gays are reported to be; that way the vicious cycle of hatred, ignorance and name calling will continue.

jas

wow another post on this. great.

this discussion is so over by now!

and its probably not as black and white (no pun intended) as 'was TR right' or 'was IW right.' maybe they were both a little wrong? is it so important if he was there or not - it was reported in the media anway - and reapeated at the globes.

but then again - who still cares? let's move on.

J.Rosas

Interesting cward, why is it that black gays are now as bad and racist as white gays are known to be, not reported. This black gay man could care less about IW, that show, and sure as heck don't give a rats rear about any "pain" that Knight claims. That hardly makes me closed minded or racist, sorry, not all blacks can relate to the issues of rich white men, or rich black men, straight or gay, and I certainly have nothing in common with white gays.

My issue is the fact that yet another angry, violent black man is media news day in and day out, and as a black man that ticks me off. I don't care about weak souls who shiver whoever they are called a harsh word, that's called life, be a man and deal with it. Everyone takes trash at work, and for these two to be making all this "news" over a slur, a firing, or non renewal of a contract is a joke, as is ABC and all the networks with their dismal record with black actors/actresses in serious roles.

And, odd those who "don't care" still post about it, why, LOL

C. Baptiste-Williams

Regardless of what happens this will always be a 'he said/she said' situation.

The facts are Washington has apologized and attempted to make amends for what he said. We should accept that and move on and let this NONstory die.

boy stop

Poor IW. Poorer Keith Boykin.

cward[TypeKey Profile Page]

If Black America is so outraged with ABC with their dismissal of Black characters…where is the boycott? Oh that would require more than ranting on a blog it would require conviction and dedication.

The truth is most Americans are like an A.D.D. child that requires constant stimulation to keep itself unaware of much that it needs to do.

The Black community loves to see things as issues of race and it is not that simple; yes race issues exist but not all things are that way.

VOTE EDWARDS 2008

Solo

Blue you are in some serious need of a anger management class. For a guy who keeps complaining about other people prejudices you seem to have a lot of your own to deal with. Eric Daniels I am with you on the issue of the future of Grey's Anatomy, shows like that one that start out with a bang don't last. Think Desperate Housewives and Lost, after starting out with a bang both those shows have seen their rating decline steadily. Look for that to happen to Grey's Anatomy in the fall. There are a lot of people out there who watched that show because of the producers policy of open casting and the diversity that it produced. Watching a strong handsome black man be knocked off is bound to turn off some of the viewers. Like I have said B4 dumping Mr. Washington might have been GA's jumping the shark moment! We'll see in a few months!

Ronnie

There have always been protests, quiet, but none the less protests over the big four networks not including black characters on their network. cward, do you read Ebony and Essence? Log onto Daveyd.com, this website, and a host of others. A year ago I had no idea that there even existed a problem between gay white men and gay black men until I really started reading up on Noah's Arc being cancelled, and until I actually sat down to watch the last Real World when the gay white guy called the big black dude a nigger. My whole thinking about that went straight to, how the hell is he calling someone a nigger when he has to deal with being called a fag. My last word; forever, about Isaiah Washington is - you fucked up Diahann Carroll's return to t.v. God, I love Diahann. Her first scene on Dynasty should be in the Divas handbook to making an entraUnce. Picture it, Dressed in white, decked in diamonds, with white fur flowing and draped to the floor. Remember her on Different World (Diva!)

ChicagoChild

Well, I have never seen Grey's Anatomy, but what blew me away was TR's slimey racist attack plan.

The one where he had the White Chick doing all of the fussing and hollaring for him first, and then TR's eventual whiney and completely phoney appearance on Ellen.

All of this because a BLACK dissed behind your back?

He knew that setting up Washington to fall would succeed firstly, by sending a white female out to warn all of the White masses about a dangerous negro in the land. And then his fake "the Negroes are restless" act on the Ellen show. Where else but in America could this have worked? It has a racial and historical context.

A gay White Man goes about fainting and holding one hand across his forehead, while fanning himself with a lacy hankerchief with the other---all while complaining that a big, black buck has SULLIED his reputation!

T.R. Knight

For the record, I was not on the set at the time that Issiah used the word faggot in an argument with Patrick. I apologize for any misunderstanding. I admit that my implications were misconstrued on the Ellen show and the confusion was my fault alone and not Ellen's. Every actor wants her or his character to contribute more to a show's story lines. If I am guilty of wanting this then I am no different than any other actor on television. I am so blessed to have my job. I do not apologize for fighting for my artistic and professional survival. Special thanks to Keith Boykin for presenting a largely level-headed view of this matter.

Darnell

Chicago child, you are too funny! This whole thing is just plain old sad, and it isn't even about IW and t.r., its about the HUGE gay divide based on race about how the situation should have been dealt with. This is what happens when a gay white group that has issue with racial sensitive takes charge of he whole gay agenda.

Oh well, same day, same old racist trash, and, it is a joke how these white gay men are always crying how they are "discriminated" against, and, yet, they pull and use the same old tired tactics of those they say are doing it, demonize the uncouth black guy and make the frail gay white guy the victim of his blind rage whose words almost caused him a breakdown.

Hopefully the show will sink, and the whole cast and crew be kicked to the curb and back into the obscurity they were in before.

Being black and gay, we are all alone, and have to fight this fight by ourselves for equality, since there is no room at the big table and white gay folks for any of our opinions to be heard.

bubba

Thanks for clearing that up, T.R. I especially love the part where you prove that you typed your comment.

MidwestGuy

Way to go T.R. Knight, after all the speculation and misinformation that has been circulating about this, you have finally come to this site and told the truth.

I'm glad that you didn't do yourself a disservice by contacting the person you credit as being fair so that he could pass along your statement, as he did with Isaiah.

Thanks for coming out.

T.R. Knight

Thank you very much for your thoughts. I think that if Isaiah had not lead me on to believe that I could have him as my first Black Hollywood paramour, none of this would have happened.

The rumored back biting left me feeling completely helpless and often in tears in my dressing room. My White female cast mate and I felt that he should not be allowed to just kiss and tell like that! I still pine for Isaiah. God he is one fine Black Adonis! I shiver just thinking of what might have been. Excuse me, while I kiss his picture on the wall....

chicagoangel

its sad. When you are wronged and what to tell your side but people won't listen to your side.

then the media takes it out on him. He feels like he was beat up on and can't tell what really happened from his point of view.

And Everyone on here better not use one racial, gay, or religious slur since you are so high and mighty.

Deacon

What ever happened to a man having the right to defend himself, I never watch the show and never will, I believe IW is telling the truth. If this happened back in 10/06 why wait until 06/07 to fire him. I think it's funny that Blue is so adamant in his bias against IW when more facts are coming out showing that IW didn't say anything to TR who wasn't even on set. So he called another straight actor a "faggot", like gays don't use the word agianst each other. TR is punking people for sympathy and you have have people dumb enough to git it to him. Stay strong Isaiah, "NO JUSTICE NO PEACE"!!!

Kola Boof

T.R. KNIGHT

Was that bullshit you just typed supposed to be cute?

A man who has spent the 8 mos. apologizing and kissing people's ass for his wrongdoings...HAS LOST HIS JOB...and the only thing your sorry white privileaged bitch ass can do is come up in here and THINK you're cute with a 2-bit Scarlett O'Hara routine?

Your taste is ALL in your mouth.

Your little CRACKER-CRYBABY ASS knew damn well that your white skin, theatrics and your MISREPRESENTATION on the ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW went a helluva long way to undo that man's career, and then you have the nerve to come and ASSUME that your apology for playing "Miss Anne" on the ELLEN SHOW is excusable just because you're gay?

You're nothing but trash.

You tell Shonda Rhimes that Kola Boof said that you and she both need to be kicked in the ass! HER for being a typical self-hating "ineffectual" darkie who does everybody's bidding but her own Mama's. THERE IS NO WAY she should have let DISNEY/ABC fire Isaiah!SORRY ASS WHYYY-N-CH!

madprofessah[TypeKey Profile Page]

I agree that it will be very interesting to see whether T.R. was on the set, but regardless it is true that I.W. REFERRED to T.R. as a "faggot" during that argument with McDreamy. And I.W. did it again at the Golden Globes.

But if T.R. was lying on Ellen then that will put a whole new spin on his actions and lend credibility to what IW has been saying recently.

qtmia_25

WHILE WE ARE AT IT...I WANT TO ADD...

"HRC AKA HORRENDOUS RIGHTS CAMPAIGN AIN'T SHIT!!!"

Name-me

Keith Boykin's website needs to be added to

http://jumptheshark.com/index.jspa

The website's name is taken from the episode when "Happy Days" officially died of bad taste, when Fonzie jumped over a tank of sharks on his motorcycle.

Boykin's website has officially jumped the shark too.

Keith - shut up and move on. Find someone else to idolize. You are starting to look like those foolish little girls camped out in front of the gate to Paris Hilton's Hollywood mansion. Stop pitying this poor millionaire, self-obsessed, paranoid, wish-I-could-get-me-some-press IW.

Enough already.

Concerned

Racism and bigotry exist across all walks of society, a sad reality of the world we live in. It seems that these taught hatreds, misconceptions, and fears have become a sad part of the human condition- one that seems to feed on itself. The sad thing is all groups that seek to end or eliminate this "condition" are the real losers. The bigots get to point at us and laugh while we destroy our humanity and argue about black gays, white gays, black hetros, white hetros, religion, etc. Who among us will be the next M.L. King and pull us all together around what is right. I applaud you Keith for your balanced coverage and seeking to dispell myths and untruths. The Gay community is really only a micro version of the hetrosexual world. We have men and women, blacks and whites, and all other colors, religions, and come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. The question is not about IW and TR but how it has exposed these things, and what will we do about them? Lead us Keith- We need you!

Geoff

LOL, you guys really thought that "THE" TR Knight would post on this black gay site? Give me a break, he could care less what any black gay person has to say, he has his coins, a raise and a job and is getting all sorts of calls from the circuit boyz, this forum is something he has never heard of nor cares about. he only deals with "mainstream" gay stuff.

But, time to move on, IW isn't worth it and most certainly TR isn't. I think that he should have his say on Larry King, or whoever, and leave the rancor, name calling and trash talk to Towleroad, datalounge etc, and we get back issues that affect the black gay community.

And, time for those with a total disdain and no clue as to why "some" black gays feel they don't see what makes TR so special, need to stick to those sites as well, since they have made it known, they don't want learn what turns a incident like this raical based on total mistrust of the gay "leaders" and "white" gay men, when it should be about a slur alone.

jas

kola boof - just looked at your webiste. the NY Times article said you are osama bin laden's former mistress?!? i can see how that makes you qualified to judge other people... with that fine taste in men.

if it was actually you typing, that is. like you assumed with TR Knight - who it obviously was not , at least the second post.

lol jrosas. the TR/IW debate is old.. but racism in the gay community is an important issue. keep getting sucked into the debate.

castiron

Sorry for my simple and idle mind, but is IW really as good looking in person as he is in photographs and on screen? Beautiful, beautiful brother!

T.R. Knight

The hateful reaction that I have received from some people on this thread after entering into the conversation openly and in good faith has now confirmed for me what I sensed all along: that the bad feelings between us are unsurmountable. In fact, I have many gay black acquaintances and I am not the one hurling bigoted words around. Peace to everyone.

Kola Boof

TO T.R. KNIGHT:

Why didn't you take that tone when you were sitting your ass on ELLEN playing "Miss Anne"?

What do you want now...a fucking cookie?

You make light of this man being fired (by BOTH your posts--your meaningless "throw-away" apology and then your comments about wishing he had given you some hot chocolate)---then you get mad when SOME PEOPLE don't appreciate your cheap bullshit TOKEN condolences.

And for the record...your ass IS A BIGOT!

Like I said, you and black ass Shonda Rhimes both need a good ass kicking. And her black behind is just as low rent as your white one.

I'm sure Keith Boykin does NOT like what I've had to say on his board today, but if you were sitting in my presence right now I'd knock you into next week, because you're partly responsible for that man being fired! And I work in television, so I KNOW that if Shonda wanted IW to be at Grey's Anatomy...he would still be there.

T.R. Knight

Even if I did play "Miss Anne" as you say, on the Ellen Show, I played it well. I was driven to it by the deceit and awful game Isaiah perpetrated on me, a gay man! I beat him to the media and I beat him in the media. I may have been dissed and scorned by Isaiah, but he'll never have lunch in this town again if I have anything to with it! His beauty and his on sense of Black man power blinded him to who REALLY has the power in this town. I belive EVEN Shonda Rhimes learned a lesson in who EXACTLY wears the POWER PANTS in THIS industry.

WHO is the HBIC at the Grey's Anatomy set? It ain't Shonda and Isaiah. Isaiah is the WHINEY BITCH now!

cward[TypeKey Profile Page]

I am always disappointed when these sensational items here on this website receive vastly more comments than others that require more than a knee jerk reaction... of which I am sure many of you are capable of providing but maybe you are not able to think in a manner that is not anger driven, spiteful, childish and bitter...this is extremely evident with people responding to "T. R. Knight" as if he is the real deal...he is not stupid enough to write anything here as he has a job and it is Mr. Washington who needs to drum up support from the gay black community that he has never been involved with.

Strepsi

Shonda is an Uncle Tom for not standing up for IW for no other reason than he's black? HUH? TR Knight is a BIGOT because someone rferred to him as a faggot? HUH??

"The white gays"? "The jews"? "The White Chick?" IW is a "black buck?"

Most of the people on this thread are SPECTACULARLY RACIST.

Hear that drilling sound? It's Dr. King spinning in his grave over your ignorant hateful shit. You can't see people.

Nice blog Keith, too bad about your regular posters -- I won't return to this steaming pit of idiots and intolerance.

Kola Boof

GET IT STRAIGHT...

Shonda Rhimes is on my shit list because this man paraded around the country for 8 months APOLOGIZING...KISSING ASS...all over a very stupid mistake he made....a mistake that brought him into the company of many gay people and caused him to embrace and develop respect and admiration for gay people.

Not to mention FRIENDSHIP w/gay people.

Everyone on this board (especially me) has cussed some one out, called them horrible names.

WE ALL HAVE.

I may not call gay men "faggot", but when I'm furious
w/str8 men I call them "bitch" or "fag".

Isaiah is not a "serial" gay-basher. His career profile establishes that.

ABC/DISNEY had no reason to fire this man. And Shonda Rhimes is a very powerful woman because of the success of her t.v. show--she's even been given a spin-off....she definitely could have demanded he not be fired over this.

Her depictions of "BLACK WOMEN" prove that she may as well be a white woman. We're invisible.

Strepsi good riddance.

Solo

You negroes better wrap your brains around the idea that we no longer hold the position of being right behind whites on the who has the most influence in this country line. Hispanics and white gays have passed us by, that is the harsh reality of our situation in 21st century Amerika!

Jose

Strepsi, there's always Towleroad and datalounge for you, and wait until you get there, you want to see intolerance and as you put it "idiots?" You are doing excatly what you seem to decry, name calling so, your view point is no better than those you seek to vilify. But, somehow, I doubt if you will be so stand up to the bigots on those sites.

Time for IW to let this go, he has lost, and he is not going to find any redemption, and that's life.

I don't need him nor anyone else to pander to me because I'm gay. He should have come to the gay black communtiy first, he chose not to, and now he is where he deserves to be, unemployed.

Jeff Smith

Some of you folk are just plain EVIL. I really wonder what goes on in your personal lives. (Maybe not.) I am not sure who is behind some of these really vile comments. Just because some of you are using the names of real people that doesn't mean you are that person..

The tone is beginning to get rather disturbing. I don't believe any of you have a personal stake in this situation, so why such hate? There's no need to answer. Please take a deep breath before commenting. Cleanse your spirit and your soul. Detach yourself for a moment it's only a blog. Run a mile or two. Try therapy. Do some yoga or something. This kind of hate leads to heart attacks and other physical ailments. Please don't pass this hate on to your children, lovers, friends, etc.
Please take this personally - GET A LIFE!!!!

T.R. Knight

Excuse me, Mr. Man! But they are talking about me! I find none of this disturbing, but thoroughly amusing. For I started it all. This was all of my own creation----and I've got you all talking!

It doesn't matter who spins whom. I've got my gay White cake and I'm eating it! Some may call me whiney or even conniving. But you can never say that I'm a loser and that my payback for Isaiah's spurnment of me didn't trump him! I'd take back everything in a minute, but I've heard that you can never trust a big, Black buck once you've crossed him!

bubba

I agree, Jeff Smith. The thought of people bursting blood vessels over this provides me with no shortage of laughs. I'm just glad that for Shonda Rhimes' sake, she is not an octoroon.

steve

who is this kola boof? is he or she somebody? right from the beginning i never seen this person talk nicely. this person always talks like an angry bitch! always! why? just because you are black? I know you feel good about being an angry bitch, but it does not mean you are right. stay black but stop being a black bitch!

Liquid Fonts

Many thanks to Jasmyne and Keith for keeping up with this story. When it first hit back in October, I believed that Washington represented the worst in black culture, the hypermasculine, Antigay, bigotted type only to learn that Washington simply doesn't fit the profile. I do wonder why Knight continues to allow the misperception. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if some of the cast members like say,Isobel Stevens?? preyed upon Knight's weakness as a closeted actor in order to Bump Washington without it appearing to be a racial matter. "I heard he called you a faggot..dont take that just because he's black"... Clearly there were racial/gender tensions on the set...Take a closer look at who's left on the set w/o scandal and you might find the true culprit... Someone who was threatened by Isaiah's confidence and was willing to use a gay man to take him down. Who does the stereotypical gay man confide in?

Adam

Excellent sentiments and one of the few that makes sense Liquid Fonts. I think that there is a whole lot more to this than the Isaiah Washington slur, and its a shame that ABC did not handle this better, and behind closed doors like a real company that has employment standards.

Jeff Smith, maybe instead of being so condescending, perhaps a better approach would be to try and figure out why black gay men don't trust white gay men as far as they can throw them and how to heal this huge riff, think about it. There's a whole lot of pain in most of these messages. No "hate" dude, just common sense. The struggle for equality can't be won with one segment of the gay population that feels left out and slighted all the time.

Kola Boof

STEVE...could you be intelligent enough to at least post a comment that rates a serious response from me?

Though my comments on this thread have been "fiery"--they're also laced with truth, sincerity and...they're well written, candid and straight from the heart.

I don't take dictation about how I'm to behave, especially from lackeys like you...or from "Martin Luther King-quoting" white people like Strepsi (I was more for Malcolm X by the way)...white gay men who feel entitled to parity on this board, in the name of MLK no less, and apparently, you have not been here from the start.

I'm quite the sweetheart, actually.

But like so many other "SEXIST GAY MEN", you use opportunities like this to express your stereotypes and your contempt for black women aka "black bitches", but just remember...it's "QUEEN KOLA"...to you. Being "IRATE" doesn't make me a bitch. And you're already aware that I'm a female. *Don't forget to click on the link to my new book as you STEP the fuck off my porch.

Cadence

Keith, does it matter if Knight was on the set? Many people, including Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Higel have said that they heard Isaiah tell Patrick Dempsey not to treat him like that faggot TR. This has always been the story, no one has ever said that Isaiah was fighting with TR when he used the slur. Please tell me why would it be okay if Isaiah stated this line while TR was on set or if he was in a differnt location?

And why would someone who is in an arguement with someone else use a slur against another person who isn't involved in the arguement.

the way is see it

The shows success was at a point I believe that the political dynamics trumped the truth after a certain point. Since Isiah, maybe took a minute to apologize and that may have turned people off, not to mention, it's his first real memorably visible breakout role of this degree, which also makes him more vulnerable, to a point, he was really at a pinnacle of his career but proving himself as a talent & celebrity at the same time, which can be difficult when you're under a lot of pressure & have a temper to boot and are apt to call names, if pissed off. So in the end I say, you have to know yourself, particularly if you're in the public eye because people test you all the time. Sometimes when people are aware of those weakening traits in a competitive environment like a Hollywood set, where power in relationships is being constantly exchange, if you let people they'll tap into that and that seems to have been the case here. Especially, if T.R. was openly lying on national t.v. He was saying, essentially, "bye

Methodmannn

So Kola Boof, with all your vitriol, hatred and mouth like a sewer - didn't your mother teach you what a lady is? Apparently not.

When are you getting your spot on "Surreal Life" where you can live in a house with the other D List has-beens like Ron Jeremy and Flava Flav? I don't seem to see where your career as anything other than Osama Bin Ladin's mistress (I can't help but laughing as I type that - sorry) has really amounted to anything. Maybe your celebrity here on Boykin's blog is enough for you.

Hey Boykin - you really like running a blog with this much personal attacks and hatred going on? Jeeez...

Jose

Methodman, why are you reading it if you are so offended? This is not the only forum that has had the personal attacks to posters about this topic, sheesh. Funny how they trot here with their disdain and abhorrence about people who don't agree with them as if this is the only board that is online that is not following the line of IW is this evil ogre. There are way more boards that agree with the "violent black man" theory you can frequent, try 'em.

And, Cadence, sorry, I would not believe anything that came from Kathy Heigl's mouth if her tongue was notarized. Sorry, you and the rest need stop with this logic that everyone on that set is a saint, while most of us don't agree with the slur, we also don't agree with the character attacks after the PSA etc. Not throwing any shade your way, but, sorry, I don't believe anything any of them say, especially Knight and Heigl.

These are grown folks, and this victimhood by IW and Knight is silly. Simnce this whole thing has done nothing for gay rights.

Kola Boof

Why are so many gay men sexist pigs when it comes to women expressing themselves?

Why is it incumbent for "ME" to be "ladylike" during a heated debate and who is reading my posts and not understanding my viewpoint, whether they agree with it or not?

I write very intelligent posts that are...HONEST.

As for my career---PRINCETON just chose my autobiography as "Best Book of 2006", I have 4 more books coming out. To most black people, I'm not Somi's mistress, but a WRITER whose novels and poetry collections they enjoy.

Or, to many daytime viewers and readers of soap magazines, I'm a soap writer.

It's only to uninformed White folks and "dirge slummers" that I'm strictly "Somi's mistress".

Where the hell have you been?

I'm quite proud to have appeared in over 40 Arab films as an actress, had 8 books published in 8 countries and written the soap opera I learned English as a kid watching. OH...and I've done a lot for Sudan, my homeland. I've achieved more at age 40 than most.

Cadence

Besides the Ellen Show, when did TR Knight speak on this issue. He didn't address it when it happened in October, except to come out, and even then he didn't say one word about Washington. When did Katherine H. talk about it, besides after the Golden Globes, when Washington embarrassed himself and the rest of the cast. The only person who won't act like an adult or professional about this is Washington and some bloggers.

No the rest of the cast aren't saints, but at least they have tried to let this die. Some of your comments and those of Washington would be believable if he wasn't the only one doing the talking, and if he didn't come off sounding like a lunatic.

Jose

Cadence, sorry, he may come off as a "lunatic" to you, not me. I don't see why some have such a major issue with him telling his side? We all saw TR weeping on Ellen, well I didn't as I don't watch her show, she is not as funny as she was when she was in the closet IMO. We saw his sainting on the cover of the ADVOCATE, well, I didn't read it as they don't do gay issues that affect my life as a gay of color, but, he is the current "it" boy for all gay rights, well, some gay rights folks I guess.

As for bloggers, I have to say, I've never quite understood why people go to boards where they nitpick what said blogger does, and knock them when you don't agree. If, the blogger is so bad, why not frequent sites that are more in tune with your tastes? The current Internet has loads of sites where 99% of the posters agree with IW being a "lunatic." IW being "violent on every set he works" and a threat to white gay men, well, closted white gay men at the time. I want a black take on gay issues, not drivel and fluf

edwin greene

At least one white gay man (TR) has served notice that he is not to be called a "faggot" in the workplace. White gay men have had a boost of good old self-esteem because of it.

White gay men are moving forward whereas black gay men are standing still. It's partly our own fault because too many black gay men are letting the desire for "solidarity" with straight black people keep us from asserting ourselves the same way white gay men have. White gays are increasingly seen as "gay men" (respect) but we are still seen as "fags and punks" (disrespect) and/or "on the downlow" (more disrespect).

Until most black gay men adopt the view that homophobic abuse is ALWAYS wrong, even if it comes from a straight black man (IW)some find talented and attractive, we will continue to be disrespected. When are we going to get our boost of self-esteem?

kevin

what black men are you referring to mr greene? certainly not this one, i don't take disrespect from no one, not even the out, and proud gay white men that so many here seem to think are alway right. and mr knight didn't do anything other than cry like a baby, hardly anyone to emulate since he wasn't even "gay." and, i have yet to see any black gay man who is out and proud, something mr knight was not, stand around and take anyone bashing them. i guess it all depends on where you live, becuase here in houston, we don't play when it comes to dissing from anyone.

maybe you and the rest of the negative black gays folks here need to get offline and meet black out, proud gay men and women who are actually out her trying to change this homophiba, that is all over the country, and not just with black folks as so many of the ones annyoed by isaiah seem to think.

but, i guess we all bring our own issues to message boards, and that's cool to, but, this lumping all black gays into a neat little package is wrong.

Mayamo

So Boof, reviews by journalists such as Peter Bergen, a credible terrorism expert, refute your claims. Your credibility stands up as well as a cartoon character.

"However, the book is rife with howlers large and small, for instance, there is one vividly recounted scene in which Boof performs sex acts on a group that included bin Laden; Ayman al Zawahiri, al Qaeda’s number two; Abdullah Azzam, bin Laden’s mentor, and Sayyid Qutb, the Egyptian jihadist theoretician. Boof says this happened in Morocco in 1996. However, in 1996 bin Laden was living in Sudan, Ayman al Zawahiri was imprisoned in Dagestan, Azzam had been assassinated in Pakistan thirteen years earlier, and Qutb had been lying in his grave for three decades."

So you're sleeping with dead men? Interesting.

jas

kola boof - so what's Osama like in bed?

if your Princeton book is as eloquent as your posts i'll be the first to buy it!!

good point though kevin. lumping people together never works. only people i'd like to lump into something are racist or homophobic people with hate in their hearts.

Paige Turner

Kola The Boof - Guhl, you needs to stop yo' lyin. You knows damn good and well that Princeton (as in Princeton University) did not pick your autobiography as no book of the year. The truth is that critic Kam Williams, who happens to hail from Princeton, New Jersey, gave you this distinction. His review was neither affiliated with Princeton University nor representative of Princeton, the township. Your wording is VERY misleading. Chile, you is a mess and Miss Google is too!!!!

bubba

Oh lord, can we stay on the topic at hand? I know who Kola Boof is, but I'm willing to bet that MOST of black America does not. Let alone care. For that reason, I don't know why she's all up in here asking people where the hell they've been as she governs the air we breathe. She's even more D-list than Kathy Griffin, though I'd go even further and recommend the K-range. If she's such a powerhouse tv writer, how about whipping up a project for Isaiah Washington instead of the tired boasting? And that ain't me being sexist, Kola - so don't play that card. If you are bitchy, you ought to be able to admit it when called out. Otherwise, that uppity shit is tired. You don't really expect this attitude to help sell books, do ya?

BM

Are you all kidding me? A man, BLACK has been fired for just a "rumor" while TR walks free! Isaiah made amends for what he may or may not have said while TR goes on the Ellen and Rosie supports him on the view! Katherine Heigl ( who is involved in her own dispute ) never said a peep UNTIL she knew that her cast were there. If TR was so offended, why didn't he say something then? Why doesn't he file a lawsuit for Defamation Of Character? And why was Isaiah fighting with Patrick and nor TR? Last but not least, why wasn't the producer, who is black looking at ALL of the facts? You all say "let it go," well we have been "letting it go" for far too long! This thinking is why we are invisible!

steve

now i know this kola boof is a woman who can write things including the things she did with bin laden. ok, that is good. keep writing to express yourself. but i dont think you are a good writer, because you are not a deep thinker. you let anger and hatred dictate your writing. are you a racist? why are you so angry with white people? always white this, white that. is this the way you stay black? no matter how black you you are, some black people still do not give you high five. since you have problems with white people, tell me how many of your publishers of your books are not white?

my suggestions to you:

learn to be a lady. speak nicely. you can still express yourself well without using nasty, bitchy words.

learn to be modest. you dont have to be so eager to tell people who you are or how many books you have written or whatever. this is america, you can write anything you want, but dont expect people to read it, they are busy making living,it is more meaningful, because they have bills to pay.

T.R. Knight

Look at all of you Black bitches talking about me. I have come to this site in an act of solidarity, only to be further dissed by the Black manhood that Isaiah came from. You can talk about me all that you want. But the real deal is that White politics trumps Black. And always will. I am gay and I stomped all over a Black buck by sending out a female cast member to herald Black mutiny. I then went on nation wide T.V., portraying myself as a "wronged" White woman sullied by a Black man.

You coons never learn. The old IS the new. I lynched Isiash like much like a squeeling White woman of olde lying about being raped or winked at by a Black buck. The public fell for it. So did the owners.

Liquid Fonts

You so silly...There ought to be a law against posing as other people online. Im sure the administrators can see the ip address :)

Cadence

BM, do you really think that ABC and Shonda Rhimes would let Isaiah go if they didn't have all of the facts? This is why some of these arguements are so silly.

It is obvious that if Isaiah didn't refer to TR as a faggot, then Patrick Dempsey would have told the powers that be that, and this would have been over.

It is obvious that Shonda, the other producers, and ABC would have gotten the story from Dempsey and the others who were on set that day before they took any action.

I don't understand why people want to make up their own story, and then lash out at others when it is not the same as what has been reported.

Andy

I guess you were there right Cadence? Good grief, I know that you and some of the others want to make the man into some sort of homophobic pig, but, get over it. You people seem obsessed with making TR a hero, your choice, but, the incessant IW is this vile human is a joke, and just trifling a well. Let him give his side and decided, instead of gossip and innuendo, since how do you know who is telling the truth? In the real world people do lie, except I guess white gay fools, LOL! They iz perfect ain't they now, bleech.

And, Shonda, and what kind of name is that, you really think she is going to lose her going with ABC? Please, she like everyone involved is looking out for themselves, not a single gay person who has made this the Stonewall of 2006/2007, and its amazing that this has dragged on this long. ABC's the one to blame, they should have got rid of him the first time, but, didn't as he was good for ratings and that meant more money.

Derrick from Philly

As some other posters have said, the IW story has escalated into a discussion of black/white relations--specifcally as it relates to homosexuals.

Well, all white people aint bad, and all black people aint good. The last 400 years may not support that, but in the last 49 years, that's one of the lessons I've learned. I've been through 4 violent racial attacks by white men/boys, and about 12 violent gay-bashing attacks by black men/boys/girls(that doesn't include the countless verbal attacks). You say, "white gays aren't your friends." OK, most of 'em aint. But who are friends to black gays? Busta Rhymes? TD Jakes? Louis Farrakhan? Is he dead yet?

For younger black gay folks I hope for the best. For me, fuck your friendship, black or white.

T.R. Knight

Don't mess with me, LIQUID FONTS. Remember, I am a gay white man that can get you fired. You didn't say much, but you really don't have to. Don't make me bring another Black Adonis down (Keith?). Really, I love you sexy Black men, why must you all be assertive and....well..."Black" acting? You all seem like such militants to me. And I just want to worship you. But you all have this "thing" going on that doesn't translate well into a Vanilla on Chocolate relationship. I haven't given up completely on Black men, but I'm going to keep my distance. Which is really HARD to do in Hollywood. Did I tell you that Isaiah once let me stick my tongue in his man dimple chin! I get so worked up about this subject! He just didn't know how to handle the situation. He shouldn't have run away from my love....

Maurice Townes

Blue I AGREE 100% Man, you said it ALL. NEXT.

Derrick from Philly

Hey, you! You, who keeps posting as TR Knight. You aint no TR Knight. I don't even believe you're white. You're probably what I might have become if the good Lord (and about 300 black dingdongs) hadn't intervened: a kooky ass snow queen with a Norma Desmond complex...well, the Norma Desmond part couldn't be helped--not even through divine intervention.

But you could be white: your postings did begin right after that Hilton gal got out of jail. Gotta' thing for chocolate, hunh, Paris?

Andy

derrickphilly, are you serious? you've been gay bashed that much? child, i would be packing some serious heat if i were in your shoes. i'm 46 and have never been gay based or called any name, and i too live in a major city, i guess i've been lucky.

i still would take my chances with the blacks over whites, sorry, i live in the real world, and know that just about all white folks hate blacks, gay or straight.

but, this is still not the case to get all upset over, its situations like yours, people in the real world that are getting bashed, beat down and murdered that need the laws behind them, not some in the closet millionaire who had to get nerve pills to handle being outed.

and, you know those white guys, they want them a big old mandingo buck, and not too much more, hence the bad knock of of that poor actor who was outed.

Derrick from Philly

Actually, Andy, afew of those gay bashing incidents were actually robberies in which the "faggot" insult was used. So, in those cases the motivating factor was robbery not gay-bashing. Was I particularly flamboyant? No, just really "out of place" in North Philly--too soft, too "Blanche Dubois". If violence against gay people is one's number one issue, then black on black gay bashing is going to supercede every other issue. I'm sorry if my personal shit gets in the way of me making that point in my "melodramatic" postings. For some of us, black folks' hatred of, shall we say, a certain type of gay male takes precedence over racism. Is that incredibly selfish (with a tinge of self-pity)? Maybe, but it's also called self-preservation...and yeah, some bitterness.

BM

Cadence: Yes, I think that ABC and Shonda would've still fired Isaiah even if they had all of the "facts." Why are all of these women standing up for a man? I don't get it.

What's obvious is that Isaiah retorted to Patrick" I'm not you f****** f*****!" That usually indicates a situation to which he was provoked. Provocation isn't a means to say slurs like that BUT TR went on Ellen and stated that Isaiah called him that before and it's obvious that he was lying! To me, Isaiah could sue both ABC and Shonda and win because logic dictates in his favor.

Isn't Shonda black? If the other members of the cast are white and Isaiah is the only black one, then what are the chances of them making up a lot of stuff? Quite a bit. Why? Because like I previously stated, if TR was that offended then he would have taken the necessary action to stop it from happening and he would've said something earlier!

Johnny

Isaiah's on a race-card rampage in his new Newsweek interview. I don't mind playing the race card as much as it's usually for the benefit of boring/annoying black people I don't care anything about. Let's play the race card to revive Donna Summer's career. She hasn't put out an album in many years, and should really record a few more albums before she loses her beautiful voice. Save one of those race cards for Donna, it's only fair to distribute them evenly!

HopaHop

Check this out from The European-Sudanese Public Affairs Council:

[Boof] alleged that murahleen tribesmen killed her parents in Omdurman. These horsemen are only found in southern Kordofan, several hundred miles away from
Omdurman.

Ms Boof made a number of other claims about herself. In August 2002, she claimed to have been shot at outside Los Angeles by Arab Muslim gunmen, and that she shot back. Boof further claimed to be under FBI protection. The 'New York Times' reported that the FBI "had no knowledge of Ms. Boof".

Of her claims of being with OBL in Morocco: One of the most watched men in the world, there is no record whatsoever of bin Laden being in Morocco in 1996.

Boof has also made other jarring claims, speaking, for example, about "rich Palestinians who have black women slaves working in their kitchens, their tongues cut out of their heads."

http://www.espac.org/allegations_of_slavery_pages/kola_boof.asp

Jeff Smith

Adam - For the record my comments were not meant to be condescending. I am a black homosexual and I do not hate white people, so I guess I don't represent the black gay male perspective as you claim. I don't believe all Black gays hate white gays; I believe that there are some black people who hate whites period. The same goes for whites people. Can I solve this issue? No, It is a lot bigger than you and I.

I could possibly be more tolerant of the comments if they were from people who have a personal stake in this issue. But no, instead some of us have resorted to a lot of hate and name-calling for the sake of whatever.

Adam

Jeff, why would I waste my time hating on white gay men? They don't know that there is even such a thing as a black gay man since we are totally invisible, and not part of the fight for their "rights." they don't need me, and I sure don't need them.

Sorry, I'm not the one who has fallen for this we are all in this fight to end homophobia, when there is rampant racism, and worse than the public at large within many quarters of the gay white community. Just keeping it real.

As for being "black" in cyberspace we can be whatever we want. And, give me a break, of course not all black men are going to agree on this or any other issue, we all have our own minds and can make a call on a matter like this based on the facts.

So, to agree with the white gays and the handful of blacks who follow their lead, no problem, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Janitor

No offense HopaHopa, but did you research what the "ESPAC" is before you posted that link?

It's run by David Hoile, known the world over as a NEO-NAZI. He does "PR" for the government of Sudan.

The "ESPAC" is the same organization that endorsed the New Nazi Party in Germany and made t-shirts calling Nelson Mandela a "monkey" when he first ran for president of South Africa.

The link you posted claims there's no slavery in Sudan and no genocide.

I hardly think that particular organization is credible in discrediting anyone.

edwin greene

Kevin, It's good to know that you and the fellows in Houston have it so together. I admire TR's takedown of IW, with essential help from his friend, Katherine Heigl.

I had/have a problem with homophobic slurs on my job. I eventually filed a formal grievance over it. I did not prevail. I lost because I didn't have someone like Katherine H. who would stand up for me. Yes, Kevin, I guess I do have "issues" - because of my own experience in the workplace and elsewhere, I identify with TR. I don't care if TR is white, I identify with him in THIS situation.

IW called TR a faggot. It doesn't matter if TR heard it or not. It doesn't matter if he was (or was not) entirely forthcoming on Ellen's show. I CANNOT now support IW, even though I once loved him in the movie "Get on the Bus". I'm satisfied that ABC did not renew IW's contract but he'll eventually land on his feet.

Jay

It's just a shame that we get so involved and worked up over the things that people say and dont say.

I have read the story that Keith has posted (and thank you Keith for remaining objective and unbiased) and it really brings to light the fact that we as a "community" (and I'm using it as a gross generalization) focus in on the "hot topic" of the moment.

On 6/22, macfac posted a comment about the unresolved issues that we face and yet have let fall to the wayside. It goes to prove what I have always said - the gay community doesn't truly unite, we congregate - that there are few in our "community" that truly want to see a change happen (and those are the people that are there behind the wayside issues even after they have fallen to the wayside) while the rest just congregates around the new "hot topic."

Jay

I, personally, refrain as much as possible from using the words faggot and nigger (and no, I will not reduce them the the politically correct "F-" and "N-" words).

I work in NY effing C and these are things that I hear on the street DAILY! and it never ceases to shock me. In Keith's CNN interview, one panelist called it the Soul-Food Syndrome. We can call each other faggots and niggers but no one else can.

That's the mentality that needs to be wiped out. But you can't force respect when our own communities can sit around a table and say "This nigga did this..." or "that faggot said that..."

I guess ignorance is bliss. Just because someone doesn't say it in public doesn't mean they don't feel it or say it in private... and personally, I like knowing where I stand with someone rather then being stabbed in the back later.

I guess the public is fine with it as long as they dont have to know about it... much like our homosexuality, right?

Cadence

BM, do your research. Grey's has the most diverse cast of any show on television. There are several Black charteres, as well as Asian, and Hispanic. One of the reasons why people love the show so much is because of the diversity of the cast and crew.

It has also been reported on several occassians that Isaiah said the slur in front of other crew members on set, and that he said TR's name. IF none of that was true then Isaiah, who sounds crazier everyday would still have a job.

Now he's blaming race. He even mentions that some on the set were afraid of him, which had been reported before. He should really look at himself and try to figure out why his co-workers felt this way about him.

BM

Cadence: We'll start with the first statement: I thought that poeple were watching it because of the acting. Of course the show is racially diverse but what I stated was that he was the only black man on the show. And as such, he would be watched more so than the Asian, hispanic. Black charters aside, he is the only one that was really representing the black race. What the show should have done was make his character gay and then that would've truly shown diversity.

This is what I still don't get, if it's been reported that much then why hasn't someone stepped forward sooner? Are you telling me that TR just took it? Katherine Heigl said that she would "f*** someone up for messing with TR." Yet, she never did. Why? Does TR suffer from the victim syndrome? If Isaiah goes to court over this and it becomes a matter of "he said, he said, she said" then he would win because he could say that the show forced him to do GLAAD work in order to remain employed!

I haven't heard him use his race as much as TR used

Lonnie

And, its funny how they made sure that IW got his cumuppance, fired, and yet, they have no power over that bitter shrew Ann Coulter spewing her anti-gay trash on a far larger scale than IW, a two bit actor. He was wrong, but, this double standard leaves much to be desired. Angry black man, villified, angry white woman, free to spew day in and day out. I guess she isn't worth it, eh?

Black Goddess

I can't stand TR Knight. In the beginning I thought IW should have been fired but have since changed. BUT IW needs to sit his azz down, stop crying racism, and move the phuck on! IW is stupid and not too bright. I've seen him in interviews. His media "victim" blitz makes black men look ignorant, hostile, ANGRY, and violent.

NOTE to ISIAH: If you don't want people to treat you like a stereotype, YOU MUST STOP ACTING LIKE ONE! Your comments in the media lately, have been dissapointing and embarrassing! You must think beyond Grey's. White gay men and Jews OWN hollywood. DO NOT FORGET THAT! Do yourself a favor and write that down somewhere! If you want to work for them they WILL not hire someone who they think will cry racism everytime this person is unhappy! Stop ignoring your common sense. You want to work don't you!

Martha Jean

So true goddess, he is yapping off like a fool, and will only tick off the white gays and the Jews who run that town.

We all get it from them, all black men are angry , violent, and now bitter, so, the saga continues, and no one has one anthing, except TR, a raise, so, I guess he is the one getting the last laugh, worse actor on the show, about as "straight" acting as RuPaul in drag, and he gets a raise.

But, no need to watch it anymore, no front and center black men will be allowed on that show, just secondary ones with lame story lines.

Cadence

BM, I didn't mean to sound rude, but Isaiah wasn't the only Black male on the show; James Pickens and Chandra Wilson are both on the show. The show has become an ensemble show, so pretty much everyone is on the same level; even though, the media annointed Patrick Dempsey the lead actor. And, TR was quiet when this first happened, because ABC and Shonda Rhimes told the whole cast not to talk about it, and they adherred to that demand up until Washington's outburst as the GG. In fact, the rest of the cast has been very professional about all of this, which has made Isaiah look a lot worse.

BITTER

I think they are riding Isaiah a little too hard; the white faggot mafia should be held responsible for this. The Advocate and the other GWM fagmags totally roasted him over the coals.

But, like Boykin and others have noticed, white drage Shirley Q. Liquor gets away with murder by his gross portrayal as a black welfare mother - in blackface. I guess maybe because Liquor isn't mainstream and Grey's Anatomy is....who knows. I am sick and disgusted by it all. The dichotomy of being black and gay......it can be so exhausting at times. Sigh.

Lonnie

Cadence, boo, are you TR publicty agent? Your ongoing defense that he is a "innocent victim" makes me wonder, but, hey,if woking for his sort pays your bills, go for it boy! And, it must be so nice to be so perfect to sit behind a moniter and tell how IW really is, someone you've never met, just like none of the cast you have ever met, so, just how do you know he was unprofessional on the set, National Enquirer or what dude? He's gone from the show, one would think you be happy and onto other issues, guess not, sice that evil black man is worthy of beating down.

Cadence

I never said he was unprofessional on the set, even though he obviously was; since starting fights and uttering slurs is unprofessional. I was referring to his behavior since the incident, and since he was fired. While everyone else remained quiet so that the incident would just fade away, Isaiah was the one who blew the entire thing up again, he is the one who has been flinging accusations at his former castmates, while they have have kept this an in house situation, and have basically ignored him.

And, I haven't defended TR, I have countered a lot of the lies and misinformation that have appeared on this site and others. Information made by people who also weren't there, and who don't know the people involved, even though that hasn't stopped them from making stuff up.

"We must go out into the outer reaches of space and confront ourselves." ---Sci-Fi announcer--

White people go out in the outer reaches of space and confront people not like them. And they freak! And they "reserve" the right to freak. And so, they continue freaking!

Cadence will not understand your calm and moral talking. She cannot compute! It goes against everything she has been trained to know. Scary Black man scares Lily White Gay Man. Pretty White woman goes screaming. Black man gone. THE END

Alan

Well, in the Larry King interview, he gave his side, and I think that he is right, if anyone should have been fired its that TR guy, he manipulated the gay community for no reason. And, I'm glad that he cleared up all the lame gossip about how hard it is to work with him, and the reason why no one has said anything publicly, a gag order.

So much for the holier than thou types here who have demonized him and joining the ilk of Glaad to do so.

Next time maybe Glaad and they will get onto issues that actaully affect the glnt commuinites, and leave this drama for tv.

Bibbylicious

I saw the interview. I don't buy it. I think he said something on that set to refer to TR Knight in some way or TR would not have been able to jump into it. In fact, if you go back and listen he contridicts himself. Earlier in the interview he said he never said TR's name at all, then about halfway through he says that during the exchange with Patrick Dempsey he said, "You will not 'B' me, 'P' me, or 'F' me because I am not TR."

Well, that's how TR's name got in it. He may not of said it to TR but he referred to TR and that's the issue. Once he did that he opened the pandora's box.

Cadence

There were a lot of contradictions. He also claimed that Newsweek saw that his co-stars where scared of him because he is the big Black guy with the booming voice, but in the Newsweek article qoutes Washington as using that line. It seems that IW has a hard time keeping his stories straight.

Oh well, the TR Knight defenders here will never beleive the man, and, they are the ones to be pitied, well, more like laughed at for the way they look like total twits. Just like the ones on Towelroad and other sites the cyber "blacks" are more hateful than the white ones, i guess getting told off by another balck has hurt them beyond repair. And after reading thier swill on this subject, I can see why they would be told off and totally dissed.

Eric Daniels

(quote BM) If Isaiah goes to court over this and it becomes a matter of "he said, he said, she said" then he would win because he could say that the show forced him to do GLAAD work in order to remain employed!

Very true BM, legally he would be on solid ground, I think if what went on is what he said on Larry King then my advice to Shonda Rimes and ABC execs is "SETTLE OUT OF COURT" like CBS is going to do with Don Imus for his statements. This is an issue now between Gay white males and their racist, sexualized sterotypical treatment of Black Gay Males in America. The drama queens who want to rant about black straights can't avoid this issue anymore than a bad inpersonation of Diana Ross, the rainbow flag like Homer's Iliad is a myth and does not include Black Gays intellectual, politcal talents. The only thing many (not all) white gays want Black Gay men for is a cum recepetacle.

Kaccompany

So it's supposed to make me feel better because he meant "weak" when he used the word f@g... what a load of crap. F@g means one thing (in the US). His ezxplanation is like saying I didn't mean n*gger... I meant, you know... lazy. Good grief.

He's an actor and an @sshole... and his little emotional outburst couldn't have been more disingenuous.

And no, he shouldn't have been fired.

eric daniels

Kaccomapany 'Fag' means cigarette in the U.K. and to hipsters in the U.S. The man lost his job you want to pervent him from making a living like Tina Turner did Ike for nearly 30 years. It was not said in repsonse to Knight and that legally could be grounds for a lawsuit if Washington presses it, but it could ruin his career in the mainstream and black film and theatre industry because they will certainally backball him. IW needs to fall on his sword gracefully and he will get another series, he can't win Hollyweird.

edwin greene

eric daniels, IW wasn't in the UK when he said/yelled the word "faggot", he was in America. In America, everyone knows that "faggot" is a slur for gay or homosexual men.

Also, Don Imus was fired well before his contract had expired. IW was NOT fired. When IW's contract expired, ABC did not renew it.

Since IW was allowed to finish his contract with ABC, I'm not sure what grounds he would have for a credible lawsuit against ABC.

Andy

Eric, you are wasting your time, these black gay folks here with low self esteems can't fend for themselves and will do whatever the white gay establishment tells them. They are outcasts within two communities, and like the one poster said, pitiful. they are the same ones who think Clarence Thomas and Shirley Q Liquor are fun.

he got fired, and they still aren't happy. I guess that they must have had some rough stuff thrown at them as kids if a word spewed by a nobody tv actor has hurt them so much. His getting fired has not changed one person who hates gays love them.

I guess all we can do is pray for them, maybe they can get the acceptance they crave from the white gay community, but, I wonder what they will do when treated poorly by them, oh, yeah, just take it.

And, oh yeah, as Larry King said, when you are on a hit show and your contract isn't renewed, you are FIRED, anybody with a clue knows this.

Eric Daniels

Edwin you drama queens never fail to amaze me with your rancid igorance, in many ways some of you on this blog are worse than st8 rappers and commentators like Bryon Crawford because underneath all that bitter anti - black st8 rhetoric is childish BS masquerading as intelligence. If IW was promised by Rimes and ABC execs that his contract would be extended if he did those GLADD PSAS then he like Imus would have a legal grievance and you do not know what was promised to IW Edwin. In Imus case was told by CBS execs to be racist, sexist and profane to push ratings and that's what Imus Lawyer Roy Black is asserting. IW crime was trying to be a macho black male in a fight with Dempsey, he should file his lawsuit take whatever settlement ABC is going to pay him and move on with his career.

edwin greene

eric, what's up with the name calling, man? You are funny (but not in a good way). Calling someone who disagrees with you names is NOT going to change their point of view.

It's unfortunate that you and others think that every black person should think like you and, if they don't, they're "anti-black". It's an old, worn out tactic that doesn't work any more (if it ever did). It only serves to alienate people.

I agree with Kaccompany, on Larry King IW said he meant "weak" when he used the word faggot! This is supposed to make what he said OK. Give me a break.

Question: Can a black gay man disagree with another black gay man without one of them going into a hissy fit?

And save me from tired negroes who think they own being black and become absolutely hysterical because someone dares to disagree with them. Give me another break.

BM

Cadence: I have read your posts' and to be honest, it's sounds as if you are making excuses for TR's behavior! You never answered my origninal question which was: If this has been going on for such a long time, then why hasn't anyone stepped forward to stop it? You claim that the show was diverse but was it? I don't recall seeing anyone but Patrick Dempsey being in the immediate media and I can bet you that he makes more money, as Katherin Heigl, TR's defender can attest to that. Do you see now? Stop being a stool pigeon and think for a change!!!

Eric Daniels

Edwin I called you a drama queen that had no sexual connatation just like 50 Cent, Cam'ron and every other black male with their psuedo male BS Are you so insecure that a guy challenged you and other guys on this blog by our ideas I never slurred your sexuality or anything. I called you a DRAMA QUEEN just like 50 Cent, men can be drama queens and have no sexual CONNATATION behind it.

edwin greene

eric, You did not/do not challenge me because you haven't done/said anything except call names. I expressed my opinions. You responded with an ugly name calling (drama queen, rancid ignorance, anti-black, childish BS masquerading as intelligence, etc.) tirade. An unwelcome surprise because Keith's approach to ideas is almost always level-headed and cool, even when I disagree.

In your last comment you use the term drama queen (your favorite expression) THREE times. Name calling is the last resort of people who have NOTHING to say.

Andy

Eric, you are wsting your time, its apparent that some of these anti-IW people have been bashed so many times by black folks, and have such low self esteems, that this is part of the way they are healing. I pity any grown man who lets words hurt him, and words by a total stranger no less.

BM, Cadence seems to hate all black men since the only time you will see that name is to bash them on this and a few other boards, so, a waste of time there. Black is always wrong, and white is always right in her book.

Pray for them.

BlkT

Look I met Isaiah Washington, and he is evil, evil I tell you.

BM

Andy: I stopped having pity on people like Cadence for a long time now because in the end, it takes TWO to tangle. I know that if I were being "intimidated" I would not just sit back and take it and then have the nerve to become a "hero." Heroes stand up and not just cow-tow!
BlkT: Most of your stars are "evil." What's your point? You mean to tell me that when Eminem called black women "black b******!" Wasn't he just as evil? Who buys his records? Black people. In fact, black people will defend him but denounce black gay men! Do you have a brain? If so, USE IT!

Tee Truth

Washington called it as he saw it. I don't understand what the problem. He is a faggot and he really could have called him something MUCH worse!!

BlkT

Gee BM does BM stands for Bowel movement lol Hows that for using my brain?

BM

BlkT: Is this the best that you can do? show some brains! Stick to the point!

Dave

Er Mr. Bowel movement why should I stick to the point when I can have a better time agitating you lol?

BlkT

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Isaiah Washington, bouncing back from his "Grey's Anatomy" firing with a role on a new NBC drama and prospects for his own network series, said Monday he's grateful for an unexpected second chance.

"I'm humbled by this opportunity," Washington told The Associated Press, shortly before NBC announced he would be joining its new series "Bionic Woman" for a five-episode arc. Washington and NBC Universal Studios also are developing an action series.

He said his dismissal from ABC's hit medical show after his repeated use of an anti-gay slur was "an unfortunate misunderstanding for everyone" that he was eager to move past.

"What I always wanted to put at the forefront is my creativity, that thing I want to do, which is act," Washington said.

He was brought to NBC by Ben Silverman, the recently appointed co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios. It was a comment to a mutual friend that led to a meeting with Silverman just after Washington lost his ABC job, he said.

BM

Dave: This is how I see your post: ZZzzzzzz.

If stars like Paris, Lindsay, Alec and Rosie, Reichen can receive a "pass" then why not Isaiah? I tried to watch Grey's Anatomy and to be honest, he was the best thing on the show. But at least he got other things going!
