Is This Racism?

Frenchie and AntonellaAfter watching a disappointing evening of mostly average performances on American Idol last night, I am wondering if the producers of the show don't make up controversies from time to time to generate interest when the performances flag. Make no mistake, I watch American Idol every week. I've been hooked since the year Fantasia won. It is America's favorite TV show. But it is just a TV show. So I'm often conflicted about what to say, or whether to say anything, about this pop culture phenomenon.

But when the conversation turns to racial double standards on America's top-rated show, my political instincts wake up. That's what happened this week when critics charged that the Idol producers used a double standard in judging Antonella Barba this year and Frenchie Davis a few years ago. Both were involved in "scandals" when some "controversial" sexy pictures of them emerged. Frenchie, who is black, was kicked off the show during her season. Antonella, who does not appear to be black, is still on the show this season. Is that racism?

Rosie O'Donnell thinks it is. And she may be right. A lot of factors could be in play here. Maybe the producers have finally dropped the ridiculous rule that disqualifies contestants because of the racy pictures from their pasts. That would be a positive development. Who really cares if Antonella or Frenchie posed for some pictures before they were on Idol? The rule was dumb from the beginning.

Maybe the producers like Antonella because she's tall, thin, white and attractive. As a big black woman, Frenchie had two strikes against her from the beginning. That's the way it works in Holllywood. But at least Frenchie could sing. Antonella, on the other hand, has yet to prove her singing abilities since the audition rounds. I have nothing against Antonella. I would love for her to get her act together and really blow me away with her voice. But that hasn't happened yet.

In the meantime, I would love to get to the point where these meaningless sex scandals aren't blown out of proportion. If the American Idol producers want to dispell the rumors of racism and start with a clean slate, the best way to do that might be to announce a new policy that no one will be disqualified from here on simply because they took a revealing photo that got out to the public.

Frenchie was paid to pose for a pornographic website. She knew the pictures were public and that anyone and everyone could see them.

Barba (who sings so badly its hard to imagine how she made it this far) messed around with some friends who have betrayed her by leaking the previously entirely private pictures.

If scandalous private pictures were enough to get you kicked out I'm guessing 50% of the contestants could lose their place. Posing for a porn site? I'm guessing the figure is well under 1%.

chicagoangel

Frenchie should never have been kicked off. she was a powerful threat talent wise they knew that. she did a better im telling u then hudson did!

Its so stupid to get rid of people for things in their past. i thought it was about talent. thats america for ya.

frenchie should never have been kicked off and this young lady shouldnt either.

Jeff[TypeKey Profile Page]

That Antonella girl looks so stiff she may as well be a mannequin. Maybe I should start watching to see if she has any stage presence because from this photo it doesn't look too promising.

I'll agree with VanJoe that there is a difference between some "candid" shots with your friends and posing for a porn site but I'll also agree that it's a stupid rule. Sure these people are supposed to be "role models" but role models make mistakes, too. It's part of being human.

kimmy

I really don't think that race had anything to do with it. I think that the issue with Frenchie was her weight. If she were tall, slender and attractive at the time, she wouldn't have gotten the boot. Also, is Antonella white? She doesn't look white to me. She appears to be of mixed race.

Karmatic

Why must every damn thing be about RACE? From where I stand, this issue seems to be about SEX...Sex always sells, and in this instance a young, thin beautiful female will undoubtingly create enough steamy controversy to drawn in viewers...That's just the way it is plain and simple...If frenchie were thin and marketable, perhaps her little scandal wouldn't have prompted the producers to kick her off the show...Those who see this any differently obviously has their heads in the sand.

kaccompany

For me, it's hard to look at the facts regarding their respectives internet pics and NOT be completely swayed by the fact that Frenchie can sing her @ss off and Antonella is a horrible vocalist. But the truth is that there is a huge difference between posing for hire and having pics you thought were private end up on line. Yes, she should be kicked off the show... for being the worst female singer in this year's competition.

cmoney

There is clearly a double standard or two at work here. Frenchie actually could sing. Antonella Barba simply has not talent. One is on the show and another was kicked off. Also both had nude pics out on the internet. One was kicked off, the other was allowed to stay. I don't see the difference between the porn site and the personal pics. Both were POSED. If you've seen the pics of Antonella Barba (I have) you could easily find similar shots on any porn website. From what I heard, Frenchie only exposed her breasts. Barba is showing a lot more than that in her pics. The fact that Frenchie got paid for her pics to me is irrelevant. Barba's pics are a little more than just "racy". Barba is cute. That's the only reason she got on the show. It definitely was not about talent. I think if American Idol had some really talented showstoppers this year, they probably would have asked Barba to go. As it is now, they have nothing to attract viewers but controversy. Frenchie is having the last laugh, though--on Broadway!

nova

I don't think it matters. Frenchie is a success and damn near a household name. Being kicked off of Idol was the best thing that ever happened to her.

johnosahon

hell NO.

it is not racism, at least i think it is not, could be though, anything is possible.

but i 95% sure it is plainlu HOTNESS FACTOR, because ant is good to look at, they left her there.

i think if frenchie was beyonce or ciara, or that black girl with curly hair on idol right now. they could have left them there too.

Charles

Can people stay on point especially "black people" such as Keith, and not try to make a non-issue into something.

Frenchie got paid to take pictures (also signed a release) that could be seen by everyone while Antonella was betrayed by friends. BIG DIFFERENCE

Frenchie should not have been "stupid" and posed nude for money and not think it would not come back and bite her chunky ass.

The show producers have the right to distance themselves from anyone that lapsed in judgment as Frenchie was. Their actions do not make them racists. They are in it for the money and advertisers pay the bills.

Keith if you want a show that accepts all people no matter past actions then you put one together until then shut up and keep your narrow minded views to yourself

Shame on you Keith for writing what amounts to nothing but more self-serving “we are the victims" for Blacks to lay claim to and distract from bigger issues, because an analysis of American Idol is far off target.

LulaMae

Child, this is "American Idol" so, the issue of race is always lurking with the show, be it the casting calls or the phone in system, even those who are blasting you about this world being "color blind" know it isn't on tv, online or in the real world. It does seem to be a double standard, but, I don't know if its race or how they could sell the potential winner, and big girls usually don't make it to the finals of anything.

That said, this is one LAME season, not one of these men can sing a lick and for the life of me I don't know how they even made it on stage, and the best female singer IMO is a big girl, so, maybe its the year of the big girl and Frenchie will get her revenge!

Jeff#2

Charles, last time I checked, this was Keith's board, not yours. He can say anything he damn well pleases. You should read first before commenting. He didn't say yes or no to the charges of racism. He said it could be racism.

I believe charge could be lookism, not racism. As most posters already stated here, it happens all the time. It's the one thing we don't condemn people for but let them say something homophobic, or possibly racist and we get all up in arms. I guess it's okay to be a lookist since there doesn't seem to be any laws that say you can't discriminate based upon someone being attractive or unattractive.

Charles

blah blah blah

C. Baptiste-Williams

Not that I even watch the show or care... but it is like comparing apples and oranges.... paid porn star vs private photos.

But better question who cares? Who really cares about Frenchie now? and who will care about this new chick in two months?

nreeldeep

Some of you brothas kill me. Signing on the dotted line to pose nude on a porn site wherein you are aware that this is for the sexual gratification of the public is infinitely different than having some fun among friends with camera phones and unfortunately having some of those photos released online.

Just as Keith is allowed to insinuate racism on his site everytime a white person sneezes, so is Idol allowed to decide what is and isn't immoral.

Minors are allowed to have camera phones but they are not allowed to purchase pornography. Think about it.

Rodney

On February 21st, this was posted in Keith's "left" column comments...

"Tonight the women perform. My early favorites are Antonella Barba, Lakisha Jones and Melinda Doolittle."

I'm just finding a strange irony in this.....

Lito S

Hi Rodney,

That's not so strange. Antonella sounded good in the prelims. But that night--the one Keith was looking forward to--she was fuh-lllat. Totally offkey, and she hasn't bounced back from it.

LulaMae

Why the "irony" that he liked her? He never said it was racism, just threw out the double standard and the possibility that it could be since the big girl is out and the "attractvive" one without a voice is still in, maybe racism and lookism, who really knows? And, I have to admit, I do get a good laugh when posters come in and bash the person who runs the blog because they don't agree with him, get your own blog and put your thoughts into it instead of the bitter sour grapes.

Charles

Keith is full of irony and far less than perfect but hey who isn't. The sad reality is that some "black" people love to cry foul before they check to see what is in front and on the sides. American Idol is a TV show that garners too much attention on the national landscape with an election coming up. If the number of Blacks would get informed about political issues and actually vote equal to their knowledge and passion about American Idol contestants, that would be a miracle.

My vote will go to John Edwards, he is out there speaking about the issues that are important to me early on such as “don’t ask don’t tell and gay marriage”...not relying on his color or famous last name or the correct political timing to rally support.

Baraka and Clinton are depending on too much of nothing to gain the black vote and they will get it because an educated populous blacks are not.

Charles

Just because it is Keith's blog does not mean that all people must agree, worship and not challenge him with information. No one has sour grapes it is a matter of a differing of opinions of which far too many people can not digest. When communication is discouraged and/or denied growth does not happen and all communities (black, gay white etc.) need to grow a little bit more as this world continues to change.

Keith uses his looks to his advantage. He made the negative comments about Frenchie (“big and black”) through his eyes these comments were formed not by anyone on American Idol, maybe it is Keith who sees what is wrong with her more than others. Maybe it’s he who has an issue with the “less” than attractive people. Keith makes sure that he is surrounded by (check out his pics) the beautiful black gay elite at all times. He makes the news rounds on CNN and other networks and he is aware that he is on TV because he is intelligent, black, gay and attractive.

kaccompany

I beg to differ, Charles. If you look back at Obama's statements, he thoughtfully and clearly expressed support for equality and civil unions for gay men and women. He also scolded the black church for the treatment of it's own gay and lesbian members.

bubba

Race? No. Right out of the gate at Hollywood week, Frenchie was obviously the ONE to beat in the competition. So how could the producers build a season of shows around a total lack of suspense? She had to go. Antonella must have a charisma that voters appreciate, because it's usually the only rival to raw talent. Just look at the (Indian?) boy who has given consistently dreary performances. He's still in the running toward becoming America's next poop star! I'm not so sure they should "announce a new policy that no one will be disqualified from here on simply because they took a revealing photo that got out to the public" either. Yeah, after a big black woman is made the sacrificial lamb! Their idea of a morality clause is a joke anyway. Idol winners will never be as hot as the "artists" with filthy lyrics and videos (or the tepid, trendy sounds that bore you to tears for that matter).

cmoney

Charles: You sound like a hater to me. Keith is not on CNN because of his looks, eventhough he is goodlooking. Frenchie is big and black. I don't think he was trying to disparage her. In fact, he was pointing out the obvious and highlighting a possible reason for the OBVIOUS double standard being applied to Antonella Barba. Her pics were not just some frolic on a camera phone. They were posed shots in erotic positions. Have you seen them? In one pic, she's even sucking dick (she claims that one is not her, but she could have fooled me). Other lesser known people were put off American Idol for stuff on their Myspace pages, so that argument about casual pics versus professional porn pics just doesn't hold water. BTW nobody cares about John Edwards. We are talking about American Idol here.

Charles

Now I want to talk about the term "hater" which is an ignorant and immature word (my opinion) that is overused by too many people particularly blacks to halt communication and pull people to their side. I teach 8th grade and that word gets tossed out when one side is weaker than the other. I am sharing my opinion to his words and the words of others just like others are doing on this blog, no more no less.

cmoney, you clearly state that you do not know the intents of Keith words and that speaks volumes around the issue. Of course Keith is on CNN for his looks as well as for being intelligent, black and gay…I see them all as factors.

Yes, you are correct kaccompany Baraka has made those statements regarding gays and civil unions.

cmoney

Well, now that my grammar has been corrected by the school marm, take a look at Antonella yourself and see if you think these are jsut some innocent cellphone shots:

http://www.neversfw.com/thumbnails.php?album=3

The blowjob pics have been removed from this site, but I'm sure they are still out there on the net. If Frenchie was too much of a 'ho for American Idol, then how is it that this no-talent tramp is still on the show? BTW, American Idol knew about Frenchie's pics before she even started on the show--she disclosed it beforehand and they still canned her.

Charles

What Antonella does in the privacy of her life is all hers, release papers were not signed as in the case of Frenchie.

Case closed.

Racism found not to be present by American Idol. Also the producers know that they have a hit so they do not have to address anything in the past. As I said before I find the show to be a waste of time and distracting from bigger issues on the national landscape.

Yes, both showed a lapse in judgment but Frenchie's decision put money in her pocket and she relinquished control of her images by signing her name.

J

I find it hard to believe that these are private pictures. There are plenty of disgusting pictures of people floating around on websites that didn't involve contracts, but it's clear those people want them there, and anyone who would stand in a PUBLIC place T&A out is NOT taking pictures for their SO or friends. The whore deserves the boot as much as Frenchie did. AI is only going to stand in her way. She really should be devoting her time to her budding porn career.

LulaMae

Charles, for one who finds the show a "waste of time" you sure do seem to have time to critique it and the posters on this board instead of a forum that may make the world a better place. Its not Opera at the Met, just a silly show to watch. No one has a problem with your opinions, and I'm sure that Keith like most of us don't want anyone to agree 100% with anything in life, but, you could come at it with out being so condescending, JMO. If, your world is color blind and everyone gets along, great, in the offline world, sadly it isn't, which is why the issue pops up in some of the strangest places.

And, as for this no talent young lady, you take nasty, nude photos, you don't deserve to be in decent company, and yes, this is a older woman who said it, since these young folks have no pride or sense about how to act like a young lady or man.

nova

LOL. So many people are trashing Antonella and Frenchie, but I'm sure a lot of the folks judging got shit in their past too, be it a nude pic or whatever. Does "taking the moral highground" actually involve getting high? Some people are so self-righteous, I swear. Seriously, how many of the commentors' emails are also linked to a4a accounts?

And scene.

LOL!!!!!

Luther

Keith do your thang now boo! I don't watch this show, so, I don't know who she is or any of the other people on it since I'm stuck in the disco era. But, I do like Paula Zahn Now, she really gets into topics that most in this country don't want to talk about in pubic, glad to see you are becoming a semi-regular along with that sister the attorney, she does not mice words!

And, nova, what's a a4a account? Have I been missing out on something now or what???

Charles

a4a account is adam4adam

Charles, read your 1st post because you're sounding like a hypocrite. You told Keith to shut his mouth and keep his comments to himself. Doesn't sound like you want him to voice his views.

Keith has never once discouraged anybody with different views to not post but to come here telling him to shut up on his own website is a bit much.

Keith is less than perfect as I'm sure you and everbody else here. I don't think he ever said he was but you're the one who wreaks of condescension so maybe you think you're perfect.

Oh, and the blah, blah comment was telling now that I know you teach 8th grade.

Mitchell

Well once again we are debating Fox network. As I express to Keith in an earlier email, the entire Fox network (which includes the news) has a bias slant towards Black folks. How many more negative stories must we encountered from Mr. Murdoch before we decide to turn the channel? Also, Charles has a strong point about Frenchie or Frenchy (however she spells that ghetto fabulous name)if she was paid to do soft porn and the other girl just had a picture released from friends that is different. Bottom line, I really can careless. This is a small and insignificant when compared to other ISSUES we are facing. And, this is Keith's site, and I do agree people should be respectful. I also think he should be challenged on certain issues as well. If we are afraid to challenge how else we will grow?

jared

i don't know if it is racism or not, i doubt it, i think its just a typical double standard, even though topless is hardly as bad as what the other girl has done . but, now its in the news, so, ai is going to have to do some 'splaining!

and @ mitchell, funny how they built that "network" with black shows, and once establised, to the curb! i don't watch it often, but, i do on sundays, have to get my "simpsons" fix!

Mark

RACISM......plain and simple. Anyone who sees this any different MUST HAVE THEIR HEAD IN THE SAND (Karmatic?). I bet that sam head was in the sand when the people of New Orleans were begging for help from Fema, after several days of suffering when only within two days did help get to Southeast Asia.

Trina

I found out about this on the Today Show last week. I wrote The Today show & Idol. Yes it is racism & weightism (if that is a word)! If it isn't it is damn near close.

Karmatic

@Mark - What the hell does "Fema" and hurricane Katrina has to do with American Idol and the topic we're discussing? Oh wait, I know - It's RACISM right? lol so Typical, maybe we ought to get Jesse Jackson or good ole Al Sharpton to form a march on Fema and American Idol....

Oh and another thing, I figured the focus would quickly turn to "Charles" because of his comments regarding Mr Boykin..I guess it's hard for some to believe that people can actually visit this website without kissing K. Boykin's ass...

oh well

chris-leo

i find something very odd.

in all the YEARS since this frenchie davis "scandal," i have yet to see ANY of her photos. after all once something's online, it's always online. somebody has to have it somewhere -- some fan somewhere -- right?

so, where the hell are these pictures?? the descriptions of them keep changing, from lingerie to topless to see-through, etc....

not only have i NOT SEEN these pictures, but i don't know ANYONE who has seen them. and that's just plain weird.

it took me half a day to have my nosey-ass friends e-mail me the porn video clip of ray j. norwood and kim kardashian.

but NO FRENCHIE...

so, WASSUP WITH THAT????

what...what...what

um... YEAH!

They "uninvited" a black male singer this season because he was arrested for possession of marijuana. But they let Scott Savol, a white singer from a couple seasons back who was arrested for beating a woman stay on.

The black singer told them of the crime and the producers had weeks to debate whether to let him on before airing his audition show. They learned of Scott Savol's crime through The Smoking Gun. IMHO American Idol used the black singer to get footage for the audition rounds even though they had probably already decided that he wouldn't make it to hollywood regardless of the judges sending him on. I think if you disqualify someone you shouldn't show their audition round tape or use any images of them for the show without paying them. Instead Idol used old boy and told him to take a hike AFTER his audition round aired.

Racist policies is an AI staple.

Tyrone

Since Rosie O' Mouth called them out for being racist and "weightist," , and yes, I know it isn't a real word,it must be true! Its a horrible double standard, but, sadly its typical of how things work, if you are black, you have to be 1001% above ground in this country, since we all know, we don't get the same break, which is cool with me as I go into every situation knowing I have to be the best ever.

@Karmatic, what's up with throwing all the shade at Keith? If, you don't like his site or it seems his success, why visit the site? I enjoy it, but, don't always agree with him, but, since I'm a guest, at least I don't throw shade when I don't, I usually just skip the thread. Not a diss at you, but, I don't frequent sites that offer nothing of interest to me.

Peace.

Mark Norris

For Mr. Karmatic......that is not a bad ideal to get Jesse and Rev. Sharpton. More importantly, I don't think anyone here kisses Keith's ass, as you put it. Like Tyrone said, why all the shade toward Keith? I feel, and I may be wrong, that you are just one of those people who have no life and like to start controversy by just visiting sites and disagreeing with everyone. But, I have learned how to agree to disagree. Thanks for the advice. I will start emails to get Jesse and the good Reverend on the case.

Charles wrote:

LOL. If you consider Keith and his pals "the beautiful black gay elite", then I'd hate to see who you hang out with. C'mon... he's OK in the looks area (but a little too "done up" for my tastes), and just a little too over-the-top on the self-promotion tip, and the age-old educational/work credentials are nice, but honestly, I don't know anyone who's just dying to hang out with him and that crowd. Maybe we just know vastly different kinds of people. Nice website, though.

Karmatic

LOL...This is classic!! Now I have no life because I've made an observation based on the comments "you'll" have posted...If you re-read my comments, you should see that there is no shade directed at Mr Boykin, my comments were based on opinions expressed by Charles....I've been visiting this site for years and if I didn't care for Mr.Boykin's agenda I would have stop coming here years ago... Keith is a beautiful Black Man that has inspired me to be the best human being I can possibly be - However, that doesn't mean I must agree with him 100% of the time...

Normally, I don't spend any amount of time defending my positions but I will not allow a bunch of internet "sheep" (who are willing to go with the flow) to misrepresent my intent on this site....

Mitchell

Wow, this thread has really created some interested comments. Now we have moved from racism to beauty standards in the Black gay community. Come on you guys. Let's all move to a higher level of dialogue. :)

ks25

The rate Ms Antonella going she gonna get kicked off anyway, so it real does matter if they kick her off for posing. But of course race is involved in this it was be a issue on AI nothing new!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nova

This is insane. Whether you agree with Keith or not, you do not come to his site and blatanty disrespect him. That's rolling up in my house and telling me to shut up. I've read disrespectful commentors for filth and banned they asses and I think Keith should do the same.

Criticize constructively and disagree respectfully.

Geez, for a second I thought I was at Jasmine's site. lol

Karmatic

@Nova~~~If those are your sentiments, then I would Ban you for lack of comprehension!! How dare you suggest that I should be Banned for making comments you don't agree with!! (I wonder if the friends you keep are allowed to have an opinion on anything that doesn't parallel with your own..)

I've stated my position and if you don't like (or if you can't read with comprehension as to understand it ) then you and your fellow sheep can "BE DAMNED"...

nova

Nawh, it's cool to disagree, but disagreeing doesn't mean trashing folks, you know? That's just common sense and courtesy, and I'm pretty much one of the rudest bloggers out there, but at least I know that, you know what I'm saying?

Keep it cute or put it on mute, honey. :-)

Mimi

Hey nova, whats wrong with Jazz's site? She keeps it real and does not let the trolls get under her skin for not agreeing with her. I think sheis right to do it, if folks have no life but the Internet to express how unhappy they are, let them. Keith is pretty fair fromwhat I've seen, and lastly, that Antonella just can't sing to sve her life, so, maybe she needs to take that guy up and do a "Girls gone wild" video, she seems better suited for that line of work.

PrettyWill

Charles,
I find it amazing how you as a gay man can have such a racist attitude. With all of the discrimination that gay people have to endure, you have the audacity to be a biggot. But it does not surprise me. Where I'm from, most of the white gays are just like you. SHAME ON YOU!!!!

Charles

Pretty Will, what racist attitude are you talking about...please be more specfic...when using such a high profile word such as "racist" it is always good to clarify points and site incidents to make the term stick if appropriate, thanks!

Jeff#2

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You don't tell someone in their own domain to shut up and keep their comments to themselves. I don't kiss Keith's ass but I happen to know him and while Keith certainly doesn't need me defending him, I am because I do know him personally. I don't agree with everything but there is always a way to disagree respectfully. Telling someone to shut up is disrespectful. Period.

cmoney

Sanity prevails: The 'ho got voted off the show tonight. Now she can makes some real money as a porn star. American Idol may be racist, but the American people can take only so much of a no talent cutie pie.

yeahisaidit

..."American Idol maybe racist..."

no, nothing is perfect cmoney but the chant is becoming shrill...racist this, racist that, Black vs white, who's wrong? who's right? if only it could be that simple, 'cuz when you mix black and white you get gray, and there's a whole lot of gray area to be considered with these things when trying to gain perspective...yeah, Antonella was booted off, but more interestingly the show's announcement to address Africa and America's impoverished was quite remarkable all things considered...i'm just sayin'...

Kola Boof

After being fired from "Days of Our Lives", because of something in MY PAST...I definitely can relate to this topic and I certainly was MAD AS HELL when they kicked Frenchie Davis off AI. I still say that girl was born to be a superstar--what a tragedy. And someday when I'm able to make films, I've written a role especially for Frenchie in my horror film "One of the Wives of Virginina". It IS RACISM that they haven't dumped this other girl from the proceedings. Regardless of what the reasons were for either girl being naked ONLINE....they were still nude and in full view of the "goody good American public". Of course it's completely ignorant and stupid that a woman's bare breasts are considered "nudity". That just goes to show what a cold, hateful European society this is.

nreeldeep

forgive me if i don't know where else to put this. i'm sure it will please alot of you. Im surprised I haven't seen on this site the mention of the main character from 'Noah's Arc', I guess his name was Noah on the show, appearing on Thursday's 'Ugly Betty.' He played a waiter. He had 3 lines. It was a very quick cameo.

jazzi

ANYWAY....Antonella's voice-or lack thereof-finally did what private, meant just for friends, provocative pics couldn't do. She's very pretty & rumored to be quite bright but she really isn't a singer in any sense of the word. And I could've just wrung her pretty little neck for attempting to sing "Put Your Records On" by Corrine Bailey Rae! How dare she!

I hear the people from "Girls Gone Wild" have been intouch with her people(she got "people"?). They've expressed an interest in working with Antonella. She gets to keep her clothes on(they only want her to host) & they're talking about giving up somewhere in the six figures if she agrees. So you see, a pretty, smart girl from Jersey who can't sing can still land on her feet.....HATERS!.....LOL!!!

cliff harley

American Idol has always been more about race than talent. I'm surprised that there have been two blacks to win the AI. During the year that Fantasia won, black people should have come "off there rockers" on the night that Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson and a third black contestant named Latoya (can't remember the last name), ended up in the bottom three. It shocked the judges and contestants alike. That's why I don't watch AI. The producers of this show should recognize what's going on with voting by now.

The only way to make this show worth all the hype is to have the judges vote along with America. I wouldn't be surprised if Lakeisha and Doolittle were booted before it's all said and done. Does anyone remember who Fantasia was in the semifinal against. Absolutely appalling. It was as if she was challenging a cartoon character. Anyways, whatever happened to that girl?

I'm waiting for BET to come with it's own IDOL!!!

kashan

I think the ? is whether or not this will give
Frenchi an opportunity to go back on the show. If they changed the rule then she definatley could. I think that if it is a possibilty that she couldn't then she could very much a reason for voiceing her opinion.

I think it unfortunate if the girls (friends?) put this on a site without her consent, but what makes them the same is that they were both unclothed and would seem as a double standard which lead people to have suspicions...
