Kanye West Goes "Crazy"

Kanye WestSomebody, please tell me this is a joke. Rapper Kanye West was so disappointed at not winning for Best Video at the MTV Europe Music Awards that he crashed the stage Thursday in Copenhagen when the award was being presented to Justice and Simian for "We Are Your Friends." West then reportedly launched into an expletive-filled tirade in which he said he should have won for his video "Touch The Sky" because it "cost a million dollars, Pamela Anderson was in it and he was "jumping across canyons."

I don't know where he's getting advice from these days, but Kanye West is on his way to becoming the John Kerry of American music. Every time he opens his mouth, you never know what he's gonna say to mess up the goodwill that he already has. "If I don't win, the awards show loses credibility," Kanye said at the show. Never mind the fact that West was named Best Hip Hop artist. Apparently that was not enough. Many people like Kanye West, but that won't last forever if he keeps acting out in public.

Kanye says it's nothing against the winners and admits he never saw their video, but then goes on to complain about how the decision is wrong. "Hell no," says Kanye repeatedly. And with that, Kanye's own credibility begins to slip down the stage. Hopefully somebody will tell us this was all an elaborately pre-arranged joke. If not, the joke will be on Kanye.

Not surprised by his actions...his head has gotten too
big for his body

Even if Kanye is getting sound advice from his publicist, label, and/or manager, I believe his aggrogance prevents him from even heeding it. He's very talented, but he doesn't understand the first thing about diplomacy and protocol in order to rise to the top. Maybe Russell Simmons and Jay-Z can get through to his thick head.

Sadly, this was probably not a joke. It is a reflection of his arrogance. I'm sure he's not listening to his advisers because if he is...he definitely needs new advisers.

Although I cut for Kanye, he's starting to get on my nerves. I just thought he was a cooler person with his head on straighter than what he's exemplified lately. And just because the video cost $1M doesn't mean it was the best...it just means that it probably cost the most! Now, if there was there a prize for most expensive video and he didn't win, he may have a case. Other than that, he needs to sit his ass down and take it like a man.

If he was truly wronged/robbed, things have a way of coming to light and all he has to do is sit and wait on it.

Just my opinion.

PEACE.

LOL Kanye was like "ohhh helll noll!"

JLee

Kanye needs to get over it and move on. Ranting like a spoiled brat won't do it. Hell, I rmrmber there was a time when black performers didn't win ANY award.

castiron

I love it when those guys act like fools! They are entertaining and I get to act out vicariously through them. My day-to-day interactions are all so politically correct.

I guess it goes to show that money can't buy everything. I truly believe Kanye was a great sport about it. I thought it was hilarious when he called that white boy a nigga. I appears to be the way he breaks the ice. Why walk around for the rest of the night looking at the people who won over you when you can simply walk up to them and make jokes about it. Seems questionably cool to me. LOL

Derrick from Philly

DIVA!

Rick

I knew he was over hyped like much of hip hop artists....a few hits and yes people bought his album but is there anything there of value...most hip hop artists (what a silly name hip hop) are all overexposed and do not have much talent to talk about so they pull antics like this one of Kayne...or sadfully they use violence to get more exposure. Hip hop is a sad area of music...yeah I said it and I mean it.

Kenneth Winfrey[TypeKey Profile Page]

That looked about as realistic as the WWF. I truly suspect that this was a stunt. I found it humorous (at least as much of it that was in this clip) actually.

Chris

I've never much enjoyed his music, let alone his attitude. What a moron.

CHOSEN

He is a young man - he has made a mistake and will unfortunately make more, like you and I as well as his white counter parts. He will mature and learn to control his tongue and temper - period!

C. Baptiste-Williams

sad that his talent is being overshadowed by his arrogance.

Ty

I'm with you Rick, these hip hop charachters seem to be more hype than talent. I guess I'm too old school to see what all the hoopla is about, he came off as just another over paid hood rat with a prima donna attitude. Just another example of how they send a negative message around the world about how young black American men are uncouth and tacky, tsk, tsk.

Colin

Do award shows matter all that much in the music industry? My theory: Kanye just needs some good loving...

Shabaka[TypeKey Profile Page]

Yeah, celebrities tend to do that a lot, you know, ridicule themselves publicly. Ain't that much of a deal.

Blue

His arrogance has been out of control from day one ... granted, he's good, but he only has two records to his credit. Give me a fucking break. He ain't Quincy Jones or anything like that. He needs to check himself before he alienates folks. A littls swagger goes a long way, but too much his annoying.

DC Jeff Smith

I only saw the video link on your site and this looked like a STUNT. I think this was a planned, calculated and poorly executed STUNT, like most of hip hop, the media and MTV. Next. It proves one thing for certain we will and often fall for anything. Just look at how much press this thing has gotten. I guess the next thing we will hear is that Kanye is performing on Broadway, making a movie, or being featured as an "actor" in some production somewhere. Hey you gotta develop your acting chops somewhere. He obviously needs more practice. Hell Fiddy cent is about to star in a film with Robert Deniro.

nOva[TypeKey Profile Page]

While I agree that Kanye's antics are tired and that there's a lot of foolishness in hip-hop, I reject the idea that all hip-hop is ignorant. Too bad for most of you, the good shit will never get as much attention as the bad shit, so folks that are looking from the outside will continue to be lead astray by stigmas and stereotypes. Pigeonholing is a fun, grand game, isn't it?

dave

...i'm with jeff. just saw the clip but that didn't play like it was off the cuff. stunt.

Alfred N

This was definately not a stunt, because if it was, what was it all for? This ARROGANT JACK ASS made an absolute fool of himself like the little whinny BITCH he is. He seriously needs to get off that high horse he thinks he is on, and realise that with a STUNT such as this, it chops away at his Fan base.

I mean, who the hell does he think he is to indicate that if he didn't win the best video that MTV awards looses its credibility? He is an embarrasement to the Black community!

taylor Siluwé[TypeKey Profile Page]

It's a goddamn shame when a man throws away such great start at being a well-respected icon. I used to love him, and not even for his 'original' music.

But now he's proven himself to be just another jackass. It makes one wonder about his previous headline grabbing statements as well--did he really give a damn about homophobia, or was he just mugging for the camera?

Kanye is visibly full of hot air now, much too full for my taste, and I hope he pops.

Drew

That Gurl need to go somewhere and sit down.... YES I SAID "GUR"

Neledi Tafari

Will someone please put the talentless coon OUT of his misery.

SquarePeg

Jazz-Z is not the one to be telling anyone anything about decorum and civility when he is caught on tape hitting and pushing a woman whose only "sin" was to take a picture of him.

What would he have done if the poor woman had asked for an autograph?

All this was done while other men stood and watched.

Please use someone else as a role-model. Jazz-Z has lost all credibility and someone should just take a pin stick it in Kanye's head/ass whichever is most appropriate and push until it hits something close to being brain matter if there is any still there.

jared[TypeKey Profile Page]

Kanye West is funny to me....everytime something doesn't go his way, he gets to doing stunts and shows. He did that at another awards show when Evanescence won Best New Artist over him. Jesus NEEDS to walk with his crazy ass!

Greg

maybe he should get some advice from Susan Lucci, soap diva who lost so manytimes for best daytime actress. lol

locs

See, this is why I can't get with Kanye, his itty attitude. Not that he already has grammys, AMAs and other awards from all across the country and the world. He wants to be seen as a god. See I find a contradiction with him. I thought he was in the music industry to make good music and resurrect the art and the HUMILITY of hip hop. He is already "getting out his dreams" and getting paid millions for it at that. What's there to complain about? But with him there is something internally and spiritually wrong. Pride before the fall. If he keeps going and acting crazy one day he might be in a place where he's not invited to ANY music awards. I wish I was there to give him a "no you didn't" look that your mama gives you when you are showin' out.
