I want to celebrate with some toasted ravioli and a beer!

I still remember fondly Talayna's, the Loop, Midtown and SLU, the Fudgery, and Union Station, the Arch, the view of the city from the Martin Luther King Bridge, the Eads Bridge (where I would sneak to smoke a lil sumtin' at lunch hour), the Library, walking along LKSullivan and the CWE in the glow of amber street lights, the barges, my old office that overlooked Edison Bros Shoe Co., my home in Lafayette Sq., the massive sculptured tombstones in Calvary Cem. near my mom's house, walks through Laclede's Landing, cobble stones, Forest Park, and the smell of Anheuser Busch and the Wonder Bread Bakery...

...and the roar of Busch Stadium that could be heard all the way to Imo's Pizza on Broadway under the highway, or up at the Mansion House Apartments, and at Keiner Plaza.

The baseball series champs in the country's MOST dangerous city :-)

Congratulations Cardinals!! I wouldn't believe for one moment the statistics that coincidentaly came out right after St.Louis celebrates a championship. Detroit was no #2 on that list of the "most dangerous cities." Had they won, just guess who would have been the "most dangerous city". DETROIT... Let's not believe everything we hear and read people!!! Someone is just seeing $ $ $ in the near future for the winning city and adjusted their so called stats accordingly...

Terrence

Congratulations, St. Louis Cardinals.

What's a most dangerous city? Shame on the media for using Morgan Quitno Press as an authority on such matters year-after-year. Neither of the two leading people at Morgan Quitno is a criminologist. And even the FBI says that such city rankings are misleading. The FBI suggests that such rankings do not accurately determine how safe or dangerous cities actually are.

For example, a husband and wife may have a fight and the police are called. They come out and determine that the husband assaulted the wife or vice versa. However, this does not mean visitors to the city are at risk. This is noted as an assault in police records, which is later reported to the FBI. Morgan Quitno uses FBI stats to compile its lists, but Morgan Quitno does not distinguish what kinds of assaults are non-random vs. non-random crimes. Measuring random crime only is a better indicator of safety.

It's sad that some people are so willing to embrace everything the press spews.

In my comment above, excuse the typo. It should read...

"Morgan Quitno does not distinguish what kinds of assaults are random crimes vs. non-random crimes."....
