Kenneth WinfreyI'm Kenneth Winfrey. As if I couldn't be more honored than I already am to serve as the new moderator for the message board, starting this week, I'll be regularly providing some snapshot views of topics that I find interesting on the board. Things we say represent some of our greatest hopes and fears, and they have been discussed on the message board a lot the past week.

"If We Must Die, Let It Not Be Loneliness That Kills Us" seems to have struck a nerve. Even though this isn't about inter-racial dating per se, the question of waiting for the right man in the right package is certainly a compelling one. If you can't be with the one you love, honey, etc. etc...or do you? What inspires you to be patient while waiting for THE ONE?

If you've been to the message board, I trust that you have also seen the topic "Are You Gay? - Fair Question" We will certainly ask, but do famous people have to tell? What obligations do they have to share their personal lives? What do you think?

"Fratman" posted "Our Nearly Invisible Queer Homeless Black Children" months ago. As of today, it has only 7 replies, but I think people really do care more than that. Don't you? After all, most of us have lived with the fear of how our families would react if they knew...

So many of us have heard that being "gay" or "same-gender loving" isn't Afrocentric. So, I created a post "SGLoving Africa." about the concept of homosexuality in an African tribal culture. I would really like to know what you think about that too.

A post on gays in Nigeria also seemed to go largely unnoticed. We claim to be so Afrocentric in America, but--judging from the replies we see on topics--nobody on the board seems to really notice our LGBT in Africa. So let's let our brothers and sisters in Africa know that we feel their pain, and celebrate their victories as well.

I also created the post "Changing Blacks' Minds on Same-Sex Marriage". The piece was written by Neil Giuliano, President of GLAAD. Do you think that gays have the right to use the Black Civil Rights Movement as a template? Do tell.

So now: Go to the message board, and don't hold back...but be nice everybody! Have a great week!

Congratulations Kenneth on writing this column. I am already a fan of the KB website and bulletin board, but now I will look forward to reading it even more for your insight on issues raised on these blogs. Thanks for highlighting my entry on homeless black, gay youth. We must do everything that we can to assist these young men and women as they face some nearly impossible obstacles. Kudos to Keith for selecting you. Hotep.

its funny, kenneth, i suggest you do a blog on the art of conversation and listening. i've been to your message boards. sometimes i think people aren't listening to each other, but just to themselves. i no longer feel the need to voice anything anymore on your site.

I haven't checked out the message board much because I've barely noticed its existence from the mainpage. Perhaps it should be displayed more prominently on the mainpage. I'll check it out more often now that I know the moderator is such a cutie (So what, I'm shallow-LOL!).

Kenneth Winfrey it is certainly a delight to see your handsome face gracing the main page. I've had a chance to read your commentary on the message board and you always have a way of saying the right things at the right time in the right way.
