Just Put It In Your Mouth

It's become a lot easier to take an HIV test these days. With rapid results tests and oral fluids tests, you can find out your HIV status in a short amount of time without even being pricked by a needle. That was the point that NAACP President Bruce Gordon, NAACP Vice Chair Roslyn Brock and NAACP Chairman Julian Bond made when they took HIV tests at the NAACP Convention last week.
The NAACP has teamed up with the Black AIDS Institute to fight the AIDS epidemic. That's Phill Wilson, executive director of the Institute, standing behind Julian Bond in the bottom picture. Kudos to the NAACP for encouraging its members to be tested, and thanks to these three for leading by example.

Kudos to you Keith for posting these pics on your site. NAACP's response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in our community has been long overdue. HIV/AIDS is now a black disease and I believe if more of our black leaders have the courage to get tested themselves and encourage others to do the same we can decrease the number of new infections. Now if we can just get the black church to have an honest discussion about sex, HIV/AIDS and homophobia, the world would be a better place. Just a little wishful thinking.
