It's Hard Out There For A Model

Thanks to my partner, I've now watched each of the last three cycles of "America's Next Top Model." And thanks to Ron Brown, I watched the one and only season of "Manhunt: The Search for America's Most Gorgeous Male Model." But now comes a co-ed show that allows the boys and girls to compete together. It's called 8th and Ocean, and as you might guess from the title, it takes place in South Beach.
The show is supposed to show you what the "high-stakes, competitive world of modeling" is really like. Ten professional models live together in a beachfront apartment complex, each trying to make his or her way in the industry. And it sounds like the producers searched for just the right mix of stereotypes to create drama. You get the "fading star afraid her time has passed" and "the naive newbie testing her moral limits" and of course "the party boy searching for true love." Thanks to QueerClick for letting me know about this one. The show airs Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m. Eastern on MTV.
