Why Noah's Arc Is Not In GLAAD Awards

As expected, the Golden Globe-winning and Oscar-nominated film Brokeback Mountain leads the nominees for the 2005 GLAAD Media Awards. Other nominated films include Capote, The Family Stone, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Rent and Transamerica. In the TV categories, Commander in Chief (ABC), The L Word (Showtime), Queer as Folk (Showtime), Six Feet Under (HBO) and South of Nowhere (The N) were all nominated for outstanding drama series while Out of Practice (CBS), Shameless (BBC America) and Will & Grace (NBC) were nominated for top comedy series.
But one decision is likely to cause some controversy. Despite the popularity of Noah's Arc and other programs on Logo, not one of those programs was nominated for a GLAAD media award this year. Programs on Logo, Here and Q Television, the three gay networks, were not eligible for GLAAD awards.
GLAAD's policy on gay networks
"This is the first year that we could say that a new niche has been created with three 24/7 gay television channels," said Chris Bugbee, director of marketing and public relations for GLAAD. "We looked at the year and realized that [the development of gay channels] was really the historic accomplishment and because of the way it rolled out...we thought it made more sense to mark that accomplishment and honor all three networks with the Gittings honor...and then to look at the question of gay television networks fresh next year in terms of the larger honors."
In 2001, GLAAD established the Barbara Gittings Award, named after the editor of the 1960s publication The Ladder, as a way to honor LGBT community media. "We believe there are no honorees more deserving of the Gittings Award than the pioneers whose determined leadership called this sector into existence," Bugbee said.
Previous Gittings honorees include The Advocate (2003), PBS’s video newsmagazine In The Life (2004) and the digital media pioneer PlanetOut, Inc. (2005), according to GLAAD. Although Logo programs were not eligible for selection, TransGeneration, a show developed jointly by the Sundance Channel and Logo, did receive a nomination for Outstanding Documentary for it’s 2005 premiere on the Sundance Channel in September.
Black nominees for Media Awards
To be fair, there were black nominees selected for the GLAAD Awards, including several in the New York theater category. "Border/Clash: A Litany of Desire" by Staceyann Chin, "Ghetto Superstar (The Man That I Am)" by Billy Porter and "The Color Purple" book by Marsha Norman, based on the novel by Alice Walker, were all nominated in that category. And the daytime drama series Passions was nominated with its black lesbian cast member.
Oprah Winfrey's episode on "When I Knew I Was Gay" was nominated in one of the television categories and the interracial gay relationship in "Six Feet Under" also helped that show win a new nomination. But for the black LGBT community, the big television news of 2005 was Noah's Arc on Logo. And the first black LGBT movie on Logo was The Ski Trip. But Logo programs are not included in the media awards.
I understand GLAAD's decision but I think it's a mistake. For the first time ever, we get a new black gay TV series and new black gay movies and they don't get recognized. The GLAAD nominations come just a week after columnist Jasmyne Cannick publicly criticized the NAACP for the exclusion of black LGBT images from the nominees of the 2005 NAACP Image Awards ("Black Gay Images Snubbed Again"). So neither the black groups nor the gay groups will directly recognize some of the seminal achievements in black LGBT media during the past year.
So if the black groups don't include us and the rules of the LGBT groups don't allow us this year, maybe it's time that the black LGBT community create its own awards ceremonies. It's always great to get recognition from others, but maybe it's time we recognize ourselves. Who knows better than we do what amazing accomplishments we're already making?

Almost 7 years ago, I created the new Clikque Magazine (now Clik) because of the lack of positive black sgl (gay) images in printed media. Lest year I saw the OUT100 in print and on the new Logo network, and was again motivated to correct an obvious error of omission – sgl people of color in the media. I was really annoyed by the omission of some people that I thought were so deserving of recognition.
There are many black sgl individual that are positive influences in our community, and I think that it’s important that they be recognized. I am please to inform this blog and supporters that for the past month, we here at Clik Magazine have been working on our own Clik Elite 50 (Awards Show) to be held in November of this year – Look for details in the next week or two.
Got questions, we can be reached at 954-455-3394

It really doesn't matter if the show got nominated or not, I know in my mind and around this country that the black community is very happy to see characters they can relate too. Maybe we should have our own award show, but thats to far off to even decide that. But I know if it was nominated it would get my vote. People understand that the show just came out. Even though the show left a lasting impression, we really have to put the show to the test on Feb 1, for the second season. The show hasn't really proved itself, because we might want it to be nominated and what if the show flopped on its second season. So people give it time because I believe Patrik Ian-Polk has alot in store for us so be patient.

Keith,
I think that's an excellent Idea. How do you think the GLAAD Awards got started in the first place? Gays were ignored by ABC, CBS, NBC, Paramount, and so on. I think you're on to something that could do wonders for future generations. Your suggestion is totally positive! I haven't seen Noah's Arc yet because the Logo Network is unavailable here. I can't do anything about the cable monopoly here so I called the DISH Network so that I can at least see the Herdon Davis Show. The Ideal of having our own awards is a good way to step out of the shadow of people who don't give us the recognition we deserve. I would love to see a Black gay television network. I have no problem pay a couple of dollars a month to support it. If I can support PBS, there is no reason I can't do the same for Black gay TV. Nobody can drive our future better than us.

Keith - your final paragraph summed it all quite well. We, as Black GLBT people, should create our OWN awards for the achievements of African-American gay/lesbian people. I am glad to read that Dwight is working on it, and he doesn't have to be the only person to do that. I always tell people that we don't have wait for the white people, straight people, or black people to create opportunities for us. We should be able to create our own. Great post!

by the way, no matter what excuses GLAAD has mentioned for their exclusion of the gay cable networks, especially Noah's Arc, they should have re-examined their decision because they have left out significant parts of what made the gay/lesbian community in the media so phenomenal in 2005.

This is not new for GLAAD. Let us not forget last year's snub.
In regards to the journalism side of their media awards, if they can find the wherewithal to creat Spanish Language Media categories they can surely include the Black media. In order to create categories for Spanish Language Media, they have to track Spanish Language Media. Now keeping in mind that they have Katina Parker, whose job is POC Media Mananger for Communities of African Descent, I think it's fair to ask did they track the Black media's stories on gay and lesbian issues last year? If they did, were they submitted for nominations? I find it hard to believe that the best GLAAD could come up with for Black journalism was two stories on the down low.
We are going to have to create our own media awards. I am a firm believer that we can not and should not depend on orgs like GLAAD to be able to identify and recognize our contributions no matter what their mission statement says. At the same time, I do believe that it is our responsibility to let them know how we feel since we are a part of the community that they claim to represent when raising money to throw these lavish events.

as we've seen in the past few years, pushing and pushing is getting us recognition and awards. but a little sanity and sobriety is in order too.
Noah's Arc is NOT going to stand up to Will And Grace as best television comedy. there's still a raging debate - even amongst those of us who enjoy the show - as to whether the Noah's Arc performers can even act. and as much as i love maurice and appreciate his herculean efforts, Ski Trip, in no way, shape or form is going to stand up against Transamerica in the limited release category.
i'm also not sure i want to see a black category at the GLAAD awards, since it implies we're being graded on a curve.
keith's idea is a solution. yet another solution will be to keep producing, nurture and achieve more and more quality and to recognize and honor quality work.

The spin you put on this article is VERY misleading. you made it sound as if the new gay networks were benig ignored all together when their very existence is being celebrated.
Besides....you get nominated and win awards for QUALITY. And let's face it...NOAH'S ARC is not a QUALITY program. Sorry...I just don't buy into becasue I'm black I have to go along with the program because there's a black program on TV. Let them EARN IT! Else you are just giving them an award becasue they are BLACK....and not have anything to do with the caliber of the show.
And don't think I missed how you tried to sneak SKI TRIP into that too....KEITH!! Please forego the self promotion of yourself and your hubby for one second to acknowledge that SKI TRIP was a lame flick.
I do not support such this feeble attempt at SELF-CONGRATULATIONS and SELF-PATTING ON THE BACK....especially when the calibur of the products are in question. I can see it now....REMEMBER THAT "BLACK GAY RENAISSANCE" pic you had up a few months back? All of that little clique would be nominated and would receive awards and presented by one another.
The initial concept sounds inspiring at first.....but that's what it will end up turning into.

Alize and Chris-Leo you are absolutely right on. Noah's arc lacks quality. Before we go off half-cocked and create another media awards show, maybe we should raise the level of quality in our programs, movies, etc. Keith, the reference to the movie "The Ski Trip" was blatant agenda pushing. We've got to do better!!!!

Dwight, congratulation and I look forward to Clik Elite 50, hopefully others will follow the example, the community needs its own awards instead of looking for hand outs from the white community, I think the award would truely have meaning to it. As for people stating that Ski Trip and Noah's Arc is not of good quality, Well, NEWS FLASH, what make you think Brokeback Moutain, Will & Grace, Queer as Folk, etc. is of good quality? I guess because Noah's Arc is not showing any d**ks or a**es it is consider non quality. Well, let me start off by saying Ski Trip and Noah's Arc is of quality, I am glad that the main characters are not "THUGGED OUT", I am glad a show came on with diversity, I am sick and tired of ever thing in the community portraying thug this and thug that, even when you look at flyers for drag shows they have thugs on it, thug, thug, thug, some of us is tired of everything being about that thuggish rubbish or seeing ads that says no fats or no fems, well even though I am not either one of them, where the hell is they suppose to go? As for people saying Keith always is promoting himself and Nathan, NEWS FLASH, is this or not Keith's website? Well then what is the problem? or should I say your problem? Do you flip the bill for this website? I did not think so. So what is the problem? Keith, thank you for all your work and efforts you do for our community, god bless.

Heyyyy wait a f**king minute !! now that someone has mentioned it,that crazy crazy Keith Boykin probably does attempt to promote is interests on here. but then again,he's black and gay, has seemly put his allll into the black gay community, runs the National Black Justice Coalition,, writes books for black gay people, owns his own website, a website that promotes black gay culture and provides a space for many black gays to say whatever, so im hard pressed to see the conflict of interest in his promoting of black gay shows that may or may not add a lil money bank account. Hell, GLAAD should give Keith an award for being a One Man Show.
If anything, I'll send a paypal transaction.
Now back to the awards thing, by now it should be clear to everyone who posts here that I should MC such an award event for the black gay community that Keith mentioned in his post, so while everyone's reacting to the post, start planning and thinking about MY transportation cost and my tux, my hotel suite. A simple black Caddy semi stretch (smoked windows)limo will suffice and of course there will be no need for air fair because the awards will be in Chicago possibly at Harpo studio's. Oprah: please chip in free lighting, space, and "bob". and we can have BJ's Market cater or perhaps this new lil gay owned restaurant on the South Side over on 79th street, Cafe NINE 17.
Pull it together yall, and get back to me. you too keith.

One reason for this is that not all cable companies carry the LOGO channel. I have never seen Noah's Arch or any of the shows on that network for that matter because I cannot get the LOGO channel with my cable provider. This in turn hurts the outcome of the over all popularity with shows on that network. Yes, it has caused a buzz in the gay community but if you ask people have they actually seen the show their answer would more than likely be no.

Keith please! Noah's Arc was one hot mess - not to mention SKi Trip. That's why they didn't get nominated - not because they feature black characters. Sure we can recognize ourselves, but can we recognize quality?

January 25 2006, 12:31PM
I'm a voting member of GLAAD Keith and Noah's Arc wasn't the only show not nominated.
There were several that weren't that are on the Here! or LOGO networks.
I haven't been able to watch any of the shows on those networks because my cable server doesn't or wont' carry them.
I can't speak for the shows exclusive to those networks because I don't get to watch them on a regular basis to judge their merits.
Many of us voters had to consider content quality. Whether or not the show is advancing stereotype, even in a subtle way.
QAF was nominated, but I doubt it will win.
I know how I voted and although it's refreshing to have an all person of color cast for a show about gay men, it's content isn't any more gratifying than that of "Will and Grace".
Although Will is gay, that's all he is. He's a GINO (gay in name only) but his actually activity within the show is anything but that.
Progress is being made, but it seems to be at the expense of realistic diversity.
The Hollywood machine likes to take the teeth out of that realism, and loves to promote stereotype..but we also have to FIGHT to keep that from happening as well as fight to keep our story close to the bone.
It looks like England does more for breaking ground on these subjects than AMerica wants to.
Canada as well.
GLAAD has to remind the creators of gay characters that our responsibility goes well beyond just having someone gay THERE, but also to be sure that that gay character...or characters is doing justice to what gay people really are, do and need in their everday lives.
GAY people OWN their stories, and do nothing less to remind the public of that.

Noah's Arc??? Let's be real- the acting truly sucked! It's shameful and not because of the stereotypes which are actually real people I know who deserve a forum, but because most of the cast, particularly the lead himself, simply need to get work as a model and save the show from total ruin. Honestly, Ski Trip was poorly written and not worth a nomination either but at least the acting was better. Maybe instead of honoring something "just because", we should simply celebrate the fact this will open doors for better shows.

I am so surprised at peoples comments about "Noah's arc was a hot mess" and "ski trip had bad acting" so on and so forth. I understnad that the acitng may not have been the best but do you all realize how important it is to have black GLBT representation on television. Furtermore does anyone really know the process it takes to actualy get these shows on televison, it is not something that is done overnight. So I think before we jump into cirticisim about the only representation of ourselves on televison we need to give some sort of prasie and raise our voices to GLAAD and whoever else did not nominate the shows. Everyone is so consirned about perpetuating stereotypes on television, but what kind of streotypes is Noah's Arc perpetuating?? It has represented the black GLBT community in many differet areas...yes there are feminine black gay guys and yes there are masculine gay black guys and yes some attend drag shows and yes some have relationship issues, these are not streotypes but realities; and if someone who is watching it says "this is all black gay guys are about" then that is their ignorance because the reality is this is television. So let's look at the big picture and see the doors that will open up and like I said applaued the hardworking directors and actors that are trying to make a change.

My comment to all the naysayers is that if you can do better then go ahead and do it. It cannot be easy dealing with some of negativity coming from your own people. No wonder we can't get ahead. You try to do something positive and people hate on you and you're accused of being an elitist and part of a clique. Aren't we all part of some kind of group? No one does it all by themselves. We still don't know how to respect each other. Even if you thought something was lacking in the shows, there is a better way to put that across rather than coming off as a hater.

It amazes me how so many people are hating on Noah's Arc. I watch the show and I am entertained, which is what the show is trying to do. It's a new show and of course it's not perfect, but I know it will get even better. It's a drama/comedy and it looks at all types of relationships with a comedic spin. I love the fact that it's all black, with all those different shades of gorgeous black men on the screen. As far as the acting goes these are young, developing actors and they have to start somewhere. There's no doubt that they are trailblazers because it takes a lot of courage to be the first. I applaud all of them.
I personally I don't care if Noah's Arc gets an award because I know what the show gives me. A whole lot of pride, joy, laughter and understanding about the black male gay life.

I must disagree with the popular opinion of this post. I thought Ski Trip was a delightful movie. It represented different aspects of black gay life. The same thing goes for Noah's Arc. Noah's Acr is is still in the development stage and there is still room for growth but overall it puts a refreshing spin on black gay male life.

Having these shows exist....whether good or bad...is fine. In no way am I trying to undermine seeing BLACK GAY images portayed on the TV or the movies.
However, to think that their mere creation merits AWARDS consideration is RIDICULOUS. Sorry...I just don't see any "CONTROVERSY" as KEITH states being generated over the fact that NOAH's ARC was not nominated. It's just not a good show.....and neither was SKI TRIP a good movie.
And why is it that I have to be relegated to the choices of SUPPORT IT or KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT ...just because a black person is behind a TV or movie... or the TV or movie is about black folks?
That's like telling me I can't say nothing bad about SOUL PLANE or THE HONEYMOONERS...or the JONHSON's FAMILY VACATION...or any of them UPN TV shows. They suck!!! lol

I'm a little disappointed by all the negative comments about Noah's Arc. Granted everyone is entitled to their own opinion - however I truly believe the show should be given the chance to evolve. Every new show will go through a period (in the beginning) where kinks need to be ironed out. Because it's a show that everyone seems to be rooting for I believe folks are looking for it to represent them and in 9 shorts episodes (this season) - it just can't be everything to everyone. GIVE IT A CHANCE!! I find the show to be a refreshing change and in my opinion it keeps getting better. I'm thankful that we have a show like Noah's Arc on television.. It's important that we see these images. I'm definitely rooting for the show and will continue to spread the word about the ARC.. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

Most people know I am not a fan of Noah's arc, but that just my opinion people of color were expecting a show about new the homo s were proud and comfortable being a man. Instead what we got was 4 stereotypical snap queens calling each other bitch and girl. But do we think that a lily-white organization, with a lily-white hierarchy is going to recognize anything that is truly black? No, even those who are of color in those organizations tend to be what we use to call snow queens back in the day. So, after 400 yrs of this we ought to, know better and have our own out lets to celebrate our own accomplishments. Remember that black award shows recognized our accomplishments, long before white America decided to do anything. We need to hit them where it hurts, their pocketbook.

"4 stereotypical snap queens"
Those are not stereotypes on Noah's Arc. The two idiots on the old 90's show "In Living Color" were stereotypes. Why? Because they were empty headed, just the way straight folks' lies portray feminine males to be. Alex, Noah, Chance and Ricky are intelligent and have depth of character, they are not black gay versions of Steppin' Fetchit.
And remember, it's a comedy. What type of black gay or SGL folks are better suited for comedy? Certainly not some super macho, unclockable SGL types. What kind of comedy y'all gonna' do: fight over which one y'all can actually perform as a "top"? I bethca' Alex, Chance, Ricky and even Noah can be "top men" when they want to.

I continue to be amazed by gay black Americans. Once again, you know that white is the mainstream right? So WHY are you Americans surprised that black gays and lesbians are ignored? Do you honestly think white gay Americans give a crap about gays of colour? NO...and I mean a big NO. But the question is should they? NO...of course NOT...Why do black gay Americans CONSTANTLY NEED AND SEEK THE APPROVAL OF WHITE AMERICA? THIS I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND? Is it NECESSARY for black queers to be AFFIRMED by WHITES TO MAKE YOUR LIVES FEEL IMPORTANT OR VALID? It seems to me black gay Americans are constantly COMPLAINING about needing their white master's approval. I guess its true what they say about black gay Americans...you guys still got the SLAVE MENTALITY. I don't give a flying crap..about the GLADD awards...Maybe its because I'm not an American...but I think black gay Americans need to FIND YOUR OWN MARKET, YOUR OWN NICHE..that's what Noah's Arc is doing...be PROUD that its on the air...BE PROUD OF YOURSELVES...Black gay Americans NEED TO STOP..and I MEAN STOP..seeking the WHITE MAN's VALIDATION....That's the problem I have with African American gays...Its like you guys don't VALUE yourselve UNLESS WHITE QUEERS...Somehow VALIDATE YOU...That's just wrong..Forget about the GLAAD awards...it don't mean Crap anyhow...Support the show..continue to create ART about the black gay experience.,,and try to target your market...I think this show should be on BET...or a market like Showtime or HBO or something....

Jame, if you bothered to read the original post by Keith, you would understand that he was pointing out that we should HONOR OURSELVES and we agree with him. Try to read for comprehension next time cuz your comments are incongruent with the sentiments expressed.
Alize, Im all about the checks and balances, but when there is only ONE of something for us, its hard for me to trash it.

it is Our Own failures.... Keith, I think that what I have seen of Noah's Arc, and I have only watched 2 episodes thus far, I think that it is one of the worst shows I've seen... it is nothing but stereotypical and unfunny step-fetchit show... I am disappointed, but will try to support the show.
the black community as a whole is locked up...mentally that is. we could be doing so much more, but we do nothing.... there is no difference in the way the mainstream networks treat Us and the way logo treats Us... but we can keep on pretending into oblivion...

James Simpson:
You are so right. What a wonderful post.
On another note, I read Dwight Powell's post about Clikque Magazine's award show coming this November. I can't wait for it. I will support it and it's advertisers. I just hope it is done with class and pray to God it's not a thugged-out gay version of the Vibe Awards. That is the last thing I want to see. Like Sharif, I am also sick of the thug mentality that taken over everything Black.

When Queer as Folk aired it was said to be "ground-breaking" a 1st of its kind but to be honest, most of the scenarios were boring, plots over sexualized, the acting was not that great, and none of the men save for my Robert Gant :) was attractive, and plenty of white gay men and women rolled their eyes and voiced distaste for the show despite the out pouring of support for such a designer show.
Also,It seems that sequence has a lot to do with the popularity. If Noah's Arc aired First for example, and QAF later, NA might not seem like a "black version" or a second hand replication of something that originated in the white gay media.

I must also agree with Alize and Chris-Leo. I was thrilled to see Noah's Ark finally arrive, and was soon disappointed by the over-acting/poor acting of most of the main characters. Several of my friends, all gay, both black and white have also stated the find the acting to be deplorable. Yes, Noah's Ark should be given a chance to grow an evlove. Perhaps other types of gay black men, other than Diva Queens can be shown. Many of my lesbian friend scoff at the L Word on Showtime. Yes, I'm sure a bunch of powerful, wealthy white Lesbians live in Los Angeles. No doubt. But that small subset does not even beging to represent all Lesbians. If Noah's Ark can likewise expand its representation, and send in some acting coaches, I think it will be an outstanding series worthy of an award. Something it is clearly not worthy of right now.
Also note I kept my "Caps Lock" key off during this entry :-)

It seems that those who are in the NOAH's ARC cheering section.....all seem to the common theme..."GIVE THE SHOW TIME TO GROW".
Here's my perspective on that GROWTH argument.
The buzz about NOAH's ARC has been around for at least five years before it finally made it's debut on LOGO. I mean I have seen pre-screening events, promos, and it had it's own website long before LOGO came into the picture. Remember, it was originally suppose to be a DVD series you could order as new episodes came about....much like another black gay tv series THE CLOSET.
I admit I got caught up in the hype from what I saw of the show. It seemed like a worthwhile groundbreaking endeavour. The teasers seemed captivating.
However, where I became disappointed was how the final product....the show that ended up on LOGO...seemed not to be like what I witnessed in the teasers and pre-screenings. So I was left with the one question.....WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? the NOAH portrayed in the teasers was not the same NOAH that appeared in the actual LOGO series.
It just seems to me that this show had plenty of time to GROW before it finally hit the LOGO channel. For as many places and events they promoted it and gave snippiets for people to view....it would seem that the powers that be would have garnered some type of feedback to help cultivate the show better than it did. It was more than a time to just gain a BUZZ...it should have been a time to do some test marketing. Such as....do you like NOAH's persona the way he is....or do we need to alter his character in anyway?
I think the end result would have turned out better. Had I not seen any prior versions of the show before seeing the NOAH'S ARC that appeared on LOGO, I'd probably have a different perspective.

Couldn't agree more with the folks who are saying Noah's Arc isn't of the caliber of some of the other nominated shows. Take the L word for a good example- it's cast is multi-racial, and the show is better written, better acted, better directed, just overall BETTER. It's not that the arrival of Noah's Arc isn't exciting, but it takes more than that to deserve an award for good programming. . . Queer as Folk sucked too. . .it took awhile for showtime to get it right with the L word. and we don't need a separate awards . . . sometimes we're drawing circles around ourselves that don't make sense.

We need to support "Noah's Arc".The show represent us as black people. We so quick to support "Queer as Folk", but not our own. Give the show a chance. Please support Noah and his Arcs. (A)lex,(R)icky and (C)hance.

Hey Keith, thanks for your continuing information about Noah's Arc (and also the GLAAD awards).
I'm in Australia and I've been hearing about Noah's Arc for over a year now and I am VERY curious to see it.
Would you please let us know when the DVD becomes available in the stores (do you think it'll be available on Amazon.com?).
This is one that I'll be express couriering!
Thanks!!

JANET....
Who says black folks supported QAF? I mean the whole idea that there are no black folks in PITTSBURGH is a preposterous notion in itself.

Let's just admit it. Noah's Arc is just not all that good.
I'm glad some black folks got jobs but if the show is not good it's just not good. So why should it get an award?
The acting is subpar, plots silly and the overall feel of the show is cheap.
Sorry to say that but thats my opinion.
I am enlightened enough to support black issues but I won't support something if it is bad and that's Noah's Arc!

well, when i said there was a raging debate over the quality of the acting, i didn't know the half of it. LOL.
i'm going to CLARIFY AND FOCUS my point. speaking just for myself, regarding Noah's Arc, i have no problem at all with the boys being queens. HELL, one of my all-time favorite movies is Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, which was indeed award-worthy (and award-winning).
the gay, mostly-black british series, Metrosexuality is a work of genius by Rikki Beadle Blair and is so over-the-top it makes Noah's Arc and Ski Trip look like they're in black and white and in slow motion.
i also enjoy watching Noah's Arc. like french fries and Dynasty reruns not everything i enjoy has to be of high quality or be the epitomy of refinement and good taste.
HOWEVER, when it comes to media awards, i'm just a little old school, and i take such things pretty seriously. Noah's Arc could be about four drag queens for all i care, and if it was done with superior quality in production and performance, i'd be the first one screaming about how it was being snubbed by the GLAAD awards, or for that matter, the Emmy awards.
my point, with both Ski Trip and Noah's Arc is that i support and appreciate them, but it's not tantamount to treason against my blackness or gayness to realize that WE HAVE A LOT MORE WORK TO DO.
at this point, 'Noah' and 'Ski Trip' are quite like the tap-dancing bear. we might be amazed and astounded that he can dance at all, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking he should compete with savion glover.

Well one thing is certain,
All the negative comments about Noah's Arc were most likely posted by the SAME individual using various email addresses. Someone had had a lot of time on their hands, time for web weaving trickery. Shame on you Alize.

Come on now LIQUID FONT. That is quite a ridiculous statement. To think that I am responsible for all the negative posts about NOAH?
Sounds like someone just cannot bear the fact that there are MANY out there who have issue swith NOAH'S ARC.
The criticims are not just on this blog.....but on others as well.
While I'm busy geting a life, you need to get INFORMED. I am not the issue of discussion here.

All kidding aside,
I'll buy the dvd of the 1st season regardless of naysayers, why ? because it's a first of it's kind, a genesis of black gay culture on tv, it dont have to have emmy winning actors and a billion dollar budget. It just needs to include people who look something like me.
The next black gay show that surfaces(if it surfaces) will probably be better and so on so dont get caught up on trivial things, Also, im sure Polk had to pull more than a few strings just to get a black gay show to air on cable under some lil known network and here you sit complaining that your tuna tar tar isnt properly plated.
Its great to be able to criticize, to know that quality can be improved upon, but that criticim should never be blind to the Effort, Cause and Effect.
While im getting more informed Alize, you might wanna consider cultivating a bit more respect for the sheer energy it took just to get a show like NA out.
Again, shame on you Alize. Be well

WOW LIQUID....why are you making this so personal, kid? For the life of me, I can't figure out why you have chosen to single me out.."SHAME ON YOU"? lol Did I hit a nerve? Did I make too much sense? So much so that you have decided to shift the focus away from the actual subject at hand?
hmm...if i didn't know any better....I'd say you must be one of the people responsible for or one of the "actors"(if you can call them that)in one of the shows being criticized...lol.
Again....this isn't about me...lol. Why not shame on everyone else who has posted a criticism? lol

I loved watching and videotaping Noah's Arc. I hope that next season one of the guys have a committed relationship. That run of the mill relationship that so many guys (like me)long for. But I guess if they had a couple like that it would be considered uninteresting. BTW, does anyone know how I can find out who sang the songs on the last episode, and how to get them? I loved those songs. Thanks.
