lenny.jpg Seven years ago, he brought us Body & Soul: The Black Male Book. You remember that book. It's the one with D'Angelo on the cover. Now Duane Thomas is back with another soon-to-be instant coffee table classic. The follow up book is simply titled, "More Body, More Soul." This time Lenny Kravitz is on the cover.

Thomas has worked for Vogue, Elle, Essence, InStyle, Details, and Esquire magazines, and he sees this book as a visual tribute to black male beauty. "As hip hop conquers the world and black actors sweep up awards, a new group of black men has risen to the forefront of popular culture." So says the official book description. "These are men who are not afraid to express themselves and who possess a unique sense of freedom when it comes to style and image."

The book features photographs of Jamie Foxx, Mekhi Phifer, Vin Diesel, 50 Cent, Ja Rule, Jay-Z, Usher, Lebron James, Allen Iverson and Stephon Marbury, among others. Top photographers Barron Claiborne, Duane Cramer, Roger Erickson, Guzman, and Dah Len contribute their work to the project.

""As hip hop conquers the world and black actors sweep up awards, a new group of black men has risen to the forefront of popular culture.""

as long as "popular culture" has been a concept, our men have ALWAYS been at the forefront of popular culture, the world over. i just watched an Indian movie circa 1998 (called "Gupt") with a full on Michael Jackson imitation. without Black men there would be no hip hop, no house, no jazz, no "popular male vocals", no rock and roll. i'm glad there is another picture book showcasing why people gay straight male female trans intersex whatever desire and strive to emulate Black men.

Listen, the only reason Mr. Kravitz got the cover is because I turned it down! Oh yes. I essentially gave it to him, so don't front! Everybobdy knows that I have the body of life. I have been known to stop traffic & cause stampedes. RECOGNIZE BITCH!

If former survivor contestant Osten taylor wasnt such a loser on Survivor Pearl Island two years ago, he definitely would have been a pin up dream for the alternative community and probably would have been in this new picture book. Osten has great, masculine features and a body out of this world!

imaima

Oooooh Lenny is so beautiful. I have to get this book.

I didn't know that Vin Diesal was Black?? Who would have known.

Laura

he looks Black to me. as far as i know, he actually does identify as Black. i have IMDB pro, which claims he is African-American and Italian-American. sure, why not.

i have to admit a weakness for Vin Diesel movies because of that lovely physique (and probably because he looks like someone i once loved), but find it disturbing that he NEVER plays "Black men" in his movies. at least not in any i've seen, and i've seen most of them.

it's like, Vin honey, we see you dear. you ain't foolin' us. lol

D from the UK

Just a mention about Vin Diesel in response to the comment about him never recognising his Blackness on film. In the movie XXX, Rap singer Eve played his sister. Lol

Laura

she was his sister?? oh! lol

she had like 3 lines so i forgot just that quick lol. thanks for the correction.

In America, Vin Diesel is Black. In some countries he would not be considered Black. He would be mixed or in some places, white--that is until he grew his hair out! LOL! As far as I know he never denied his African-American heritage.

I GOT IT!! I GOT IT!!! And let me tell you guys it is the bomb. Better than the first one "Body and Soul" ( I have that too). Ain't nothin, and I mean nothin like a Black Man........except of course a Gay, Black Man. Thank you Jesus that I am one.

To anyone else who has this book and Keith I am shocked you didn't notice the guys from Noah's Arc are in thier too; Darryl Stephens, and Gregory Keith (Alex's husband). Both looking quite delicious I may add.

Go get this book children. It is a must for every book collector. Hell, it is a must for everyone.lol
