So much has been going on with author Kola Boof recently, that I couldn't possibly sum it up in one story. Boof, the outspoken Sudanese womanist author and activist, was the subject of a murder attempt a few months ago, and since that time has been targeted for a "fatwa." She's also accused of having a relationship with Osama bin Laden, a charge Boof vehemently denies, although noting they once did date.

The reason for the controversy? Boof speaks out about slavery in the Sudan, which many black Africans and black Americans continue to deny, and she condemns sexism, misogyny and homophobia in Islamic fundamentalism. Apparently, some people have a problem with what she's saying. A recent press release says that Boof is to be beheaded for blasphemy against Islam and treason against Sudan.

To find out more about Kola Boof, tune into The Joe Madison Show today, Friday, at 8 a.m. Eastern Time. She also has several other media appearances scheduled for the week, leading up to international rallies in her defense in Washington and New York. On Thursday Nov. 7, more than 600 demonstrators are expected to gather in New York City and Washington D.C. "to protest the Fatwa death sentence ordered by the terrorist-regime Government of Sudan," according to a news release.

Next Thursday, November 7, Boof will appear on Carl Nelson's show on KJLH 102.3, "The Front Page" in Los Angeles. The show runs from 4:30 to 6 a.m. On Friday, November 8 she appears on Nkenge Toure's show in Washington D.C. from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
