I Need Your Help!By Keith BoykinJune 8, 2004 12:02 AM
This is one of the most important things I have ever done in my entire life. It's an extraordinary opportunity to reach MILLIONS of people with an important message of change and a plan for a new America. That's why I need your support. If people don't show up, our voice will never be heard. "American Candidate" is a new reality TV show on Showtime in which 12 contestants compete in a series of tests during a simulated presidential campaign. My partner Nathan is serving as my campaign manager, and I believe we will be the first black gay couple ever to appear on reality TV. The first test is the campaign announcement. The two candidates with the least number of participants at the campaign rally will face elimination. The producers of the show will count attendees based on the number of people who pass through the entrance between exactly 6-7 p.m., so come even if you can only stay for a minute (literally). YOU DO NOT HAVE TO STAY FOR THE ENTIRE EVENT. WE DO NEED YOU TO PASS THROUGH THE ENTRY DOOR BETWEEN 6-7 P.M. The New York LGBT Community Center is located at 208 W. 13th Street (b/n 7th Avenue and Greenwich), in New York City. I look forward to seeing you there. I really, really need your support. Thanks. Hate on me tomorrow, let's do this TODAY! Posted by: Troy at June 8, 2004 01:04 AMI will be there, Keith, you can count on me! Posted by: Troy at June 8, 2004 08:27 AMGood luck, Keith! As I said in your post about you not wanting to write here anymore, you ought to use your blog to promote your efforts. Now that you are "campaigning," let me point out that Howard Dean revolutionized the use of blogs to rally both grassroots campaign activism as well as the largest Democratic fundraising records in American history. Don't discount the importance of your blog as a powerful communications tool in your campaign. Posted by: Christian Grantham at June 8, 2004 10:16 AMHey Keith, I went on the American Candidate site and read your profile. I was able to click on a tab to support you. Also there are email cards I was able to send to my friends to support you as well. Since I'm in ATL. I won't be able to attend the rally. My Best to you and Nathan!!! Posted by: kevin at June 8, 2004 10:49 AMWere I in New York, I would most certainly be there. Posted by: Terrance Heath at June 8, 2004 09:36 PMI was made aware of your call for support just today - June 9. Let me know if there is anything else I (we) can do. Good luck Posted by: Chris at June 9, 2004 09:43 AMPost a comment
